What's the longest you've had any wfp equipment?
« on: September 23, 2013, 05:32:49 pm »
Today my Ionic's stainless steel 200m hosereel snapped at the spindle bracket on one side and had to weld it back on.....not bad for 11 years constant use. Use to hold 900 feet of 6mm hose for one big job I used to do monthly so I could clean entire building without moving the vehicle., hose reel has been very robust up until today. Welded it  back up this afternoon, proper solid welds on both sides as no point doing half a proper job, so now it should last another 11 years, expensive hosereel but very good quality.

Be interested to hear what's the best wfp equipment you've bought, what it was and wether you think it was value for money?

That is pretty amazing for a hose reel!, im guessing they are expensive?.
I have been cleaning windows for nearly 4.5 years, and my original surflo pump is still providing sterling service. Not sure if that is particularly good, but I was told by another window cleaner when I started, that pumps can be pretty unreliable, and he always has a spare just in case.

Shurflo pump - had mine about 5 years and no problems. I just hope that by writing that, it doesn't pack up tomorrow.

The only other long lasting bit of equipment, if you can call it that, is the hose I use to connect to an outside tap. It's the same hose and connectors from when I started window cleaning in 2001 although I was 100% trad then as most were.

My SLX35 - 2008 now used all day long as an SLX20 - came with metal clamps, then got a free set of plastic clamps, then a discounted set of the latest clamps.

Still got the upper sections but rarely needed as we use my extreme for going above SLX22 territory.
It's a game of three halves!

Hosereel for me too.
Hannay, I actually bought it 2nd hand, it was about 18 months old.
Ive had it in 3 different vans over 9 years, now getting on for 11 years old.
Had 3 brakes in that time.
Awesome bit of kit

My Hannay reel is 7 1/2 years old, no replacement parts so far. Brilliant reel.
