« on: August 21, 2013, 05:10:46 pm »
Hi ive been working for a bloke for newrly 12 years now and we get on great. Im more than happy to stsy for a long time BUT he has his brother working for him as well and I cant deal with him anymore. Today he kept asking me something other and other again so all I said was " ok ill do it in a min " he then went off on one shouting how dare you speak to me like that, I will smash your face in and put it through the floor. He got right up to my face screaming and shouting. Now im no wimp but he's twice the size of me. I dont know what to do as 5his happens aboit once a month and the boss does nothing. Any advice would be great

He's a dick head.... I understand we're ya coming from.....
On 1 hand they r putting work ur way an ya don't want to lose it
An on the other hand ur not a muppet who's guna be spoke to like that.
If ya can get by with out the money then tell him what to do with himself an wrap a bar round his kneck an ya ain't lost nothing.
If ya need the money then go speak to him an tell him how it is an that ya ain't answering to his brother who's prob just a little juice head an would poop his undies if ya laid one on his chin.

I have done work for a guy bout 15 years now, his bro inlaw started working for him a few years ago an he tried his luck with me, an he was a big lad. I just told him straight that I didn't work for him an if he carried on I would park me van in his front room at home an see if be can hold the upstairs up. He soon changed his attitude. And now he's been sacked haha

In the past 5 years he's grabbed me by the throat, pushed me up against garages and other stuff.  The thing is his brother knows what he is like he wont even work with him. I cant just stop working I need the money got a house and kid to pay for. If I hit him I know I would be sacked on the spot so cant do that. I just which he would hit me then my boss would have to get rid of him.

Just start on your own, each door you knock on think of your kid. Its a great motivator.
Move on mate.

Is the work domestic or commercial, an were r u based.???

There is work out there for everyone like the guys say little by little just start picking work up 5 houses ere an there just do it for yourself and your children will drive you to make a success, start off with a £50 a day round do a good job an it will soon be £200 a day.

Chin up mate ya don't need be treated like that. I started off with a few commercial jobs an its growing bigger all the time.

Could it be that your gaffer is scared of him too?
Not got any  positive suggestions though-sorry.
I'd suggest not giving him a hiding-anyone can throw a punch or two but its only real fighters that can take them and get back up. (Not that you're not, just that most people give their best couple of shots first and if he's got up from them you're fu@ked)

Or... Goad him. Take the slap and he'll be sacked and you can crack on.
2 things though-you need to be sure you can take it because you (obviously) don't know when he will stop.
And you need to make sure someone else sees (and will vouch for) him landing the first blow.
Don't envy you though bud.

report it to the boss and tell him to do something about it,then you will take it further

cause if he doesn't then you go to the police, and if he does then lay a finger on you your have both of then in front of the police.

keep all records and when it happened who you spoke to and when.

>Crystal Clear

Do you use their van; have you got a vehicle of your own? If so then build your own round and work for yourself; honestly the boss is useless if his brother hits you there's no point going to him he already has shown he does nothing anyway.

Is there anyone near you you could start subbing for while you build a round. or get a part time job and build up your own round.
It's a game of three halves!

Crystal clear,

well done for writing the letter, but in the meantime I would be looking for another job, simple as that.

By the sounds of it, it wouldn't matter if he hit you, he wont get sacked.

Value yourself more, you do a good job, been a good employee

maybe its time to look for work elsewhere maybe even part time, and with the spare hours try and get your own little bit of work.

Would be hard at first, but better than looking back in a few years wishing you had tried it, because theres nothing to say something like this wont happen again working with someone else.
