afternoon chaps.  just looking at upgrading my van.  Considering you can buy a dispatch style van with a pay loak of 1.2 tons, can someone tell me the advantage of getting a traffic/vivaro.
in my head, if you can fit your tanks and two men etc in a despatch size van, then why bother having a larger van i.e harder to park, uses more fuel etc

More room inside for other stuff like gutter vac, mop, bucket, hoover ect.  A dispatch would work well for window cleaning but would be completely filled once you have the tank, reels, heaters and gas in, if your hot.  With the larger van you can diversify a little, if you want to.  The down side of a bigger van is getting ladders off of the roof when needed.

I have the LWB Dispatch 59 plate, and carry hot system, 3 reels,4 poles, treble ladders, double ladders, all the usual trad gear and gutter vac with no issues.

I went to a weigh bridge last year fully loaded up plus 2 of my sons and was within the legal payload.

The long wheel base is a god send as it increases length and payload.

As far as I can tell they are slightly cheaper as well than the vivaro/transit types

What van you got? What type of round? Is parking difficult? Driveways tight?

I went from a Doblo (56-10 plate type 736kg) to a Hyundai (12 plate) 1060kg. When I went two man I spent six months with doblo and trailer until I had enough work.

Any bigger and I would find parking and drives a bit tough. However if I was mainly commercial/schools/flats/1 off cleans then I would want 1.2kg payload and 800L on board.

But I have kept the doblo and have a trailer and so on really big jobs I have taken my van with 700L on board; the doblo with 200L and a trailer with 200L. I also use the doblo for really awkward parking jobs.

Personally I'm wary of Citroen suspension on cars but don't know if that applies to vans.

i have a nemo and a trolley system.  but soon will be two man with a mixture of commercial and domestic.  i do a lot of town driving which is why id rather not have a massive van.
so i was thinking a van with over 1 ton payload and a 800 litre system

Sounds like the dispatch would suit you better gb.
Bigger van is a bit more stable on motorway too. IMO
I've had both & prefer my traffic now but my expert was fit for purpose at the time. Shorter days tgen

don't get the 1.6 well nasty and ebays full low mileage ones with shot engines ,I was at the sales today and lwb dispatches on 09 low miles 1.6 fetching 2600 pounds even the traders don't want them

there was an old shape dispatch on a 07 2.0 hdi one owner 33k on the clock made more money then the new shapes

Oh ok. Is the problem with the 1.6 just that its not very powerful? Should that be a concern? Steve, do you have the 1.6?

09 transits 76k on the clock in white mint 3500 + vat todays good touch , it was a 115 swb 300 twin doors 6 speed nice thing , its sister van had 113k on and was rattled down the side made 3050 +vat

the 2.0 hdi is the one to go for not the 1.6 I have a friend that's got a 1.6 one on lease let just say they have it back more then he as it ! and its only 7 months old !

thanks.  the trouble is i don't know enough about vehicles to trust buying a old or high mileage vehicle.  i know it could save me a fair bit of money but i really hate things breaking and having to pay high garage fees.  the newer the vehicle the more confident i am of avoiding this

Nothing wrong with the 2.4, it's the same engine as the 2.2 they use just larger capacity.
