Well that's you told then Rob :P

I do agree with Chris that the Resiblock is better removed chemically then blasting though.

Out of interest what is the cost of a bag of media for that set-up, email me if you don't want to put on here.

AS10 and the enviromose are good but expensive, I get the same product off a guy who used to supply chemicals limited with the raw materials, he sells the as10 @ £60 and enviromose @ £80 if any one wants any I'll text you the number to the guy, those are cash prices if you want a receipt then VAT will need to be added
Compared to chemicals ltd prices are around £250 for the environmose last time I got a quote for some

The two systems are virtually identical - the only difference on the Torc system is that it spins from the nozzle. Your wrong again!

Rob ;D
Virtually identical in the fact they both have a hopper...
Why am i being annoying...i thought it was all very relevent and factually correct.Which bit did you disagree with? ???
I am in a good mood and willing to share my expertise with you.

It looks a good set up Rob, good luck with it, you should get some good prices with that machine.

I did some Ice blasting for a couple of days once in a British gypsum plant, It was bloody hard sweaty work, but quality of job was superb.

Been looking at the TORC & Doff system but this looks better!  What's the main difference between them and where can you buy the Farrow system from?

You cannot compare the DOFF system against the Farrow.

Stonehealth TORC system
The TORC System is a complete stone cleaning system designed and sold exclusively by Stonehealth. It’s an evolution of the Jos system that we first introduced to the market over 20 years ago.

What can TORC be used for?

remove carbon sulphation
remove lime & cement based paints
remove paint residues
remove some old oil based paints
remove bitumen
remove lime scale
How does it work?

The TORC system creates a gentle swirling vortex using a mixture of low air pressure, little water and a safe inert fine granulate.

The Torc Head is modularised into separate components which  results in an efficient and gentle swirling vortex using even less water and granulate than the original Jos system.

The removable nozzle cone can easily be changed so that a larger cone can be used to clean large areas such as ashlar or a smaller nozzle cone can be used for more intricate detail such as an elaborate capital or rustications.

The above directly from Stonehealth website
The below directly from the farrow System website

Complete coatings removal, corrosion control, and facilities maintenance.
The Farrow System® excels in lowering costs for both preventive maintenance and repair. Complex industrial infrastructure such as piping, valves, and intricate mechanical/hydraulic machinery can be cleaned quickly and inspected frequently without disassembly or masking. The Farrow System® will remove tough industrial coatings and corrosion without damaging hosing, couplings, and delicate surfaces. This one-step cleaning and surface preparation saves hours of labor in otherwise tedious and difficult maintenance chores.

And because The Farrow System® has ultra-low dispersal characteristics, it can be used in enclosed spaces without affecting nearby equipment or workers. Almost all airborne particulates are eliminated, along with the extensive cleanup required by other cleaning methods. Farrow System® media presents no environmental hazards to guard against, and the low blasting pressures make The Farrow System® doubly safe!

The Farrow System®
is effective for:

Removing industrial coatings for inspections
Preparing surfaces to recoat
Cleaning storage tanks
Removing rust and scale
Removing roadway markings
Building and site maintenance
Contaminants abatement
Offshore corrosion control

Kevin - I haven' used it yet, we have paid for half of it and the final part of the payment is going through tomorrow, it will then be mine to collect, possibly before the weekend and then it's playtime ;D ;D

I wont be saying much more about it as we have a resident know it all and he feels he is better able to answer, if you email me I will be happy to talk you through it.

Rob ;D

The Torc system is " sandblaster" designed  for the gentle cleaning of heritage architecture through low pressure blasting mainly with Calcite and is generally accepted as the "only" system to be used in this type of cleaning. This is something Brian Crowe cleverly instigated 20 years ago with the heritage people.
The farrow system is basically a "sandblaster" designed for removal of heavy scale deposits from ships, heavy steel work  usually used in conjunction with media such as crushed glass, Silicon Carbide Grit etc,The "special" feature of this system over a normal "sandblaster" is the use of hot water to dampen down contamination and aid cleaning not to form a traditional blasting slurry as in "wet blasting".
The Doff  system is  a low flow, low pressure, super heated water steam cleaner used for the removal of algae and paints etc . It s generally recognized by Natural England , English heritage as the only way to clean trust property due to the fact it rarely damages the substrate as the clean is generally conducted by the high heat (genuine 150c at the tip).
Depending on what you are cleaning depends on the machine you should invest in. If you are going into cleaning listed buildings the Doff or Torc system  not that it cleans any better but merely for the fact Stonehealth has the field completely tied up with the governing bodies at this present time. There are better machines on the market than the Doff and Torc (Vortech,Thermatech from Jaime fairchild) system for this sort of fine conservation work. I can forward you details
The Farrow system will carry out this sort of  work (but not to the same standard) but it would never ever get specified (for conservation work ) by any of the trusts due to Stonehealths influences.
I have used all of the above machines extensively over the years and am willing to supply unbiased information on any of them .
As you can see all of the above machines whilst they may look similar to the untrained eye (Doff excluded) they are  completely different machines. The nozzle sizes on the Vortech/Torc system go down to 3mm aperture not much good for removing road markings unless you are on a day rate!!
What's your thoughts on the fluoropolymer?

The machine I watched and then subsequently bought is low pressure, extremely hot water ( I will verify the temperature of this, through experience and not Google), utilising volcanic grit, no additional chemicals and if the videos have been watched, has the ability to clean the print from a cigarette packet and also drive a hole into a concrete kerb, within seconds so is equally soft on cleaning.

It certainly is not a wet blaster and the posters knowledge has been shown there, a wet blaster cannot be regulated, doesn't work with heat and is not comparable.

Again another attempt to share bu*lpoop and googling ability, with no substance behind it!

I agree that wet blasters "usually" use water instead of air and possibily to "purist" sandblaster it is not a "wetblaster" in the traditional sense.
To me it is a form of wet blasting (water being introduced to the media= wetblasting) ...dry blasting on site is a nightmare and the introduction of water solves many problems associated with it. I will amend the post so it reads better.

Lee & Ian

I'm having a go first ;D

I want an orderly queue, no pushing in - just trying to arrange a training day with Farrow Systems and the manual, as this has been lost somewhere along the way.
