I'm doing research for the next stage of my business getting a new van and two man setup later next year.

All the videos show either just the system being tested ( Brodex, Ionic, Pure freedom ect ) or on grippas video images of what looks like tanks with out any restraint.

So my question is are these systems worth the extra £1500 plus price tag for the crash test when you can get a good tank frame from grippa or get one made for £300-500.

Looking at pure freedoms demo shows their frame is a welded angle iron frame and it passed the test.

I'm just thinking next year when i get the bigger van the £1500 could be spent on other equipment  



Has anyone had a crash with a none crash tested tank frame what was the outcome

Omnipole put a picture of a crashed van on here years ago the tank wasn't tested but the occupant and tank survived

Reading that link (i may have missed something), its not clear. Did you have a 650 litre wydale or an IBC tank ?

good luck to the guy, we had an accident a couple of years ago and althotho it was my drivers fault it was still scary, again lucky no one was hurt - except pride, only thing i would like to say is we had a 1000litre tank fitted proffesionally by facelift and it was nearly full coming back down motorway and the tank only moved within the framework after an inpact of around 70mph, my thoughts are -whilst wfp is good please have it fitted properly as if we had fitted it ourselfs and it had gone forward we could be talking very differant stories. i know that many fit it themselfs as it cuts down cost but in the event of an accident it could make the differance. also anyone been asked by van insurance as to who fitted wfp and asked for written proof iif t wasnt done by themselfs. please note i am not having a go at anyone who does fit it themselfs but to me its better to have it done proffessionally, feedback from anyone whether fitted themselfs or by manufactorer would be interesting

George, just for the sake of clarification. What is the benefit of having a fitted tank (by someone else), is it the integrity of the frame you go for or the integrity of the fitting ? As far as i understand fitting hasn't ever been tested ?

none of them was crash tested, i just prefer when having something like this fitted i prefer it to be by someone who knows what they are doing, its not something i would do my self with a mate (if that makes sense), to me its probably peace of mind as much as anything else,

How is Facelift a good example of someone who knows what they're doing ? They're not crash tested, infact the company struggled so much that they sold out their stock and trading name (in other words the company) to the window cleaning warehouse who didn't specialise in such stuff either?
 What swung you to go with Facelift as opposed to 'tested systems' if you're for the 'leave it to someone who knows what they're doing' approach ?

So to summarise, crash testing wouldn't be a priority for you. You would be happy to have it fitted by someone who appears to know what they're doing?
 I don't mean that in a smug way either, i'm just trying to fathom out what makes people decide if somethings ok for them or not.
 I myself wouldn't be swayed by a crash tested system.

It was a 650 IBC in a custom welded frame.

a crash tested system is only bolted through the floor with spreader plates, not exactly rocket science, IMO I think you are paying for the fact their system has be crash tested, the they have had to spend many thousands doing that.

If you really want a crash tested system, you can go to Pure2o, an ionic company, and get the ionics crash tested tank fitted, but they will match the price of other company's non crash tested systems, at least the used to.

Exactly what I did , very good deal and its a 4040 system rather than ionic linear filters so you can get membranes / filters from anywhere

They still do. They were going to match a PureFreedom frame and tank price with one of their pro systems when I got the new van last month.
