Sanding with a Levi
« on: May 21, 2013, 02:43:03 pm »
There is a bit of vid on the Klindex site of someone sanding a wood floor with a levi - does it need a big adaptation to do it?
Just wondered if its possible to use on a totally flat modern engineered board or parquet?

I have a colleague In Austarlia who loves the Klindex for sanding, however they wouldn't use semi solid if their lives depended on it! I think it would be too risky to use unless there is a 6mm wear layer, I would also want to make sure that the floor was very flat because semi solids rely on the quality of the sub floor and good floor screeders are rarer then dinosaur eggs.

Kev you're the Klindex man what do you reckon?

You sure it's not Timba?

It is a Levighetor but it is fitted with a Planetario 800RPM and the vacuum hood and filter so essentially it becomes a Timba

It doesn't replace a belt sander if you want to offer a professional service.

Yes lots of people tell me that!  Also I am told the Laegler Hummel is the best but the Klindex Timba is used by a lot of people as a finishing machine after the belt sander.

We use a Laegler Trio for finishing or a planetary head on a Wirbel.

Is the Timba planetary if not I imagine the Levi would be the better machine for finishing and be great on stone tasks.

Yes the Timba operates with an 800 RPM Planetary

We have a lot of Hummels but the new Pallmann Cobra is a better machine.

Kevin,

The Cobra is..... smoother, more powerful, cuts faster (power and extra weight the key factors), cuts closer to the sides and front wall so slightly less edging, has a light to highlight the floor directly in front of the cutting area, impresses customers far more than the Hummel, has height adjustment (one of our affiliates has two guys who floor sand for him, one guy is just over 5 feet the other around 6 feet this machine can be comfortable for both), very quick and easy to totally dismantle for transport which means you're more likely to do it which is much better for the machine. In truth the old Cobra was a slightly nicer machine to use than the Hummel but the back up wasn't nearly as good, now Uzin own Franke it should all be much better. The list price is £4420 plus vat, I don't know what the Hummel is but my guess is they will have to drop the price to compete. I have 2 brand new ex stock Cobras at a discounted price if anyone is interested!!
