Gardiners new clamps
« on: May 20, 2013, 06:46:55 pm »
Just looked on Gardeners website and unless you've previously bought a pole from them you aren't allowed to buy a clamp upgrade kit.
Is this allowed under trading standards?

Why would you want them for another pole?
Or is it that you have bought a second hand pole privately?
I'm sure a phone call to the Gardiner sales team should be your first call, then sir the the second call could be to the hard done by police.
Get a grip, see what I did there?

Of course it's allowed.

They can sell what they want to who they want and equally can refuse any sale to whoever they want. Just like you can choose which customers you would like to provide a service for aswell.

What I want them for is to make a dog lead so I can take Rover to the park.
See what I did?

You can still buy the clamps from gardiners if you didn't by the pole new from them you will just need to pay the full price for the clamps i think

This is only to get the discount. If like me you have bought a secondhand pole you can buy the clamp kit at full price.

I'm sure you can buy them, but you won't receive any discount as an "existing" customer...

Clamp sets are initially available to pole-owners only due to limited availability and will be available to all and sundry in due course, when main order arrives to Gardiners, as far as I know.

I think it is a good service offering the discount to existing customers,  I am going to order a couple of pairs for two poles I bought last year . . . . a good investment for when the old clamps wear.

Anyone have any issues with the new clamps being very sloppy when placed on the cleaned poles.I'm thinking there may not be enough adhesive. Also when ordering check you have got the correct clamps before you strip the old ones even if it says so on the paperwork. No work tomorrow  >:(

No proble, with them being sloppy, why do you think you have to the wrong clamps for your pole?

The clamps should be a good tight fit on each section - if they are really loose it is probably the clamp from the next section up.

The DIY clamp upgrade kits start from the No.2 clamp as the No.1 clamp does not need replacing as this only clamps the gooseneck. The No.2 clamp will then fit on the second section and so on.

Which pole do you have and what clamp numbers have you got?

The DIY upgrade kits come complete with the following:

The number of clamps needed (complete with lever sets)
Twin pack glue sachet 10ml - enough for 10+ clamps
Alcohol wipe
Link to the video fitting guide

Could you email me please with your order number and I will get the Office to sort this for you - Apologies - sounds like more haste less speed for the packing team  :(
