Sign of the times?
« on: April 24, 2013, 11:34:00 pm »
Tonight I have counted 9 truckmounts (including Prowler type machines) on E bay.

Around 3 years ago when I started carpet cleaning you rarely got more than a couple of machines on at any one time.

I guess a lot of people are throwing in the towel or maybe going back to running portable machines?

Either way it's not looking very rosey!

Its possible people are down sizing during these tough times... Things  are a lot different now to how it was 3 years ago

or too many people doing it.

A lot of new starts around. A lot of general cleaning companies have been starting to offer carpet cleaning. Window lickers are also at it too.

The internet has made it a lot easier for people to find out everything they need to know.

Or perhaps they are so busy and earning so mch money they are treating themselves to a new truckmount, so are selling off the old one

The vast majority of the TMs on ebay are old dogs, their useful life is past them, only trouble ahead.

Be like buying an old E reg Escort ;D

I've been looking at at 421, are they decent? What sort of life do you get at them, I think it's done about 3000 hours, seems a lot.

3,000 hours is nothing. You can get 10,000 if you look after them properly.
