Do you take notice of parking regulations when working ?

I'm not talking about parking in a way thank makes it dangerous for other road users but just parking on yellows not in parking bays etc


I have done this for a few days lately and the reward of getting work done quicker works out to more per day than a ticket would cost each week.

Whats your thoughts

It's not only possible to get 1 parking ticket per week you know. You'll just end up with a shed load of £60 penalty notices.

I'd rather take a few minutes (seconds) longer and abide by the regulations like everyone else.

You can park on yellow lines in Worthing and most of the areas I cover as long as your van is sign written, same in Brighton I think, but to be honest if parking looks like it may be awkward I'll decline the work.

in cumbria i can ring the council the day before & tell em where i'm gonna be working & they give me a number to put on my dash & i can park anywhere

No BTN is council permit, adur/Worthing is council day waiver regardless of signage

I looked at getting a permit in Worthing and the form made it quite clear the signage was sufficient  had a couple of wardens say the same, that was a couple of years ago though.

I just be sensible....

Go into town early morning.
Park in parking bays - do get away with overtime.
DO NOT CAUSE AN OBSTRUCTION

Since last year the District Council took over street parking and we have one or two "Traffic Wardens".  I had a chat with them and so long as I am not silly they are understanding.
I often use a local breakfast cafe with single yellow lines outside.....They are OK with that even

I think most parking wardens are pretty reasonable when it come to us, having to park in a convenient spot to get the job in hand done.

I dont really have many jobs that i need to park up on the pavement to get out of the main flow of traffic, but on the occasions I do need to park like this I have not received a ticket yet.

Having said that i'll get booked for blocking the road on Friday when I have an apartment block to do in Bristol.

Yeah, almost every day.
Still quite considerate though.
Wardens know my wagon now-had one ticket in 11 years from working.

disabled blue  badge holders can park on double yellows, only if the is no yellow stripe on kerb.
If disabled badge holders can park there, then if I park on those kind of yellows and the traffic warden sees I am working then they use a bit of common sense.

I wont stop in disabled only bays, as people who do that annoy me. (my missus has a blue badge)

I wont stop on yellow lines that are fully restricted to any road user

One strange quirk of Brighton Council is I get a free parking permit.

I can park almost anywhere I want including double yellow lines. Amazing eh?

I thought any vehicle powered by non-renewable energy sources were banned in Brighton?

if your reach and washing they will niot give you a ticket, if they do fight it you have to a risk assesment on the job if the safist option is r and w then parking on double yellows or loading bays should out way the restrictions......

In cleethorpes they are like vultures waiting to pounce some are ok but one woman laughs as she tickets cars and vans others have said dont worry your working so we cant ticket you.
 you have to have eyes in the back of your head sometimes.

When worked in London years ago (delivering building materials etc) I got no end of tickets because there some places where it was impossible to park legally.

I do remember one incident where I had just stopped to drop off a vanload of materials when along came a warden. I went up to him and explained my situation. He asked me how long it would take me to do the drop. I told him 15 minutes. He said that if I was still there after 20 I would be ticketed.

In my locality it's not a problem, and parking is cheap enough to not make it an excuse to park illegally.
