Neil, I have two. One an 07 has 73000 miles, 650 litre two man system and is fir sale at 5450. The other is brand new, 45 miles 750 litre system. I rate them. Comfy, reliable and look smart.
Got a bad rep around eight years ago, but I have had three vauxhall vans and all have been great.

I'm on my 2nd. Trafic but the same motor.
Love it!
Problems after 90k with the last one.
But fully loaded every single day you have to expect something after that mileage

Think this says it all mate , not even ten years old and already
Had those parts replaced , mind you it's no different to most
Vans made from 2004 to date........ It really is a lottery
When it comes to buying second hand vans of this age.

I was thinking the same thing. Most of the vehicles in our family are at least 10-15 years with 100-200,000 miles and are all mostly original. Seems to be stuff made after 2000, particularly with DMF's. Why turbos seem to fail these days could be down to the length of oil change intervals. All in all, not impressed with any of them.

Off you for about £50

Been looking at Vivaros myself can't seem to make a decision, my trusty Tranny is rusting out so time to move on im steering towards a higher mileage vw transporter t5 but still researching them at the moment regarding reliabilty and rusting - anyone know much about these vw's?

I love the VW's.
But drive a Trafic-love that too but can't afford the Transporter which I'd prefer.

Just MO but I would always buy whatever vehicle with the lowest miles.
I would buy older with less miles rather than newer with more.

Again just MO but the term 'motorway miles' seems BS to me too-it's either done the miles or it hasn't and things will still go pop when they're gonna.
And-how can it be all motorway miles-you have to drive a &/or b roads to get to a motorway.

I've gotta primastar (same van) but its 6 months old with only 1900 miles on it. These are brilliant vans and there are a lot around, from what I understand when they first came out they had problems but now they seem sound.

I would think more that twice about a van that has done 174000 miles, somebody else has already taken the best out of it. It might still function but will it do what you need it to do.  It's a bit like buying a second hand pole, you can't escape the fact that components wear and the use ability has been reduced.

Seeing as there are a lot around have another look.

Simon.

whatever you buy go for a decent test drive. at least 20 miles, if its low on fuel put some in.  let it get warm and it takes at least 10 miles for you to start hearing noises properly . look at the door mirrors,if you see old cobwebs round the edges where the mirror glass is , the vans been laid up ,whys that,  tread warily

i have an 04 on 130something k miles
Been ok, power steering pump went , and had some strange issues with power going but when i gave it a blast it cleared and has been fine since,
But usually people say get a newish one as theyre less likely to go wrong

although i must say i havent spoke to a mechanic yet that rates the vauxhall vivaros, they all think they are useless??
