Which 40 foot pole?
« on: April 09, 2013, 06:26:44 pm »
I am going to order a new 40-50 pole  tonite.
Just wondered whether to go for the S Max 45 or the S Max 47 compact. (both in the Gardiners sale at the mo)
I have an Slx 22 and a clx 27 already but now have higher work to do.
Is it easy to use  the 47 as a shorter pole,  removing sections and adding when necessary?
Any other pole options?
I can't wait for Slx11as I need it yesterday.
Any tips appreciated.

Very easy to remove sections i have a S-Max 40 currently using as a 25ft loosen clamp or clamps then slide section or sections of positive stop tape is only very thin tape you just need an End cap or something to use as an end cap.

I have 2 pole hoses though one for 25ft use and one for 40ft use . Mike

If you are deciding between these two then I would recommend the 45ft if your van is long enough for it. Whilst the 47ft pole is a great pole when you need the shorter closed length of an SLX, it is not quite as easy to use as the 45ft SMAX.

The 45ft is 2 sections smaller so it is much easier to hold - It is also a little more rigid in use. It is nearly 1/2 a kilo lighter. The only downside is that it is 8" longer when closed.

Cheers for the replies Mike and Alex.
I have an Slx22 with aquadapter fitted so the closed length of that compared to the S Max 45 without the aquadapter  will be similar I should think.

Looking at Gardiner pole spec's, it seems  I had better go for the 47 cos of the closed length.

i got a smax 47 & it fits in the back of my citroen berlingo when it has a 14" gneck on it ok, i also got the base section off a slx 35, so i take 4 sections off the smax & bang the slx base on & its a 35 ft pole, all the bits go in downspout in the back of the van
