Fixed hose reel problem getting the hose out ?
« on: April 07, 2013, 08:15:41 pm »
How do you guys get around the problem when parking is tight and you need to get the hose out without the hose touching the car your parked in front of ???

I have tried using a full barrel of water but the hose just pulls the barrel over.

And if i pull enough hose out to do the job at the van it gets knotted up  >:( >:(

Thanks Paul

You can get little chocks to put in front of the cars tyre that it runs in.
I'll have a look for the link

It's just the internet. Try not to worry.

Hope you pay more than minimum wage so you can drag your hose round his ankles all day.  ;D

I have thought about getting a heavy market stall weight to put the hose through then pull the hose out but i would imagine that i would need a 30-40 kg weight to stop the hose pulling it along the pavement  :'( :'( :'(

A mixture of pulling some hose out by the van but not too much as you say it gets knotted, but I also carry a few loops of hose in my hand say 20 meters worth.  Normally using both these techniques is enough and doesn't take too much time, however I find reeling it all back in a tough trick when a car is parked tight.

I think i've just thought of a easy way round it park the van so that the front is facing the direction of the job then pull the hose out against the van bumper and the hose won't come close to the parkj cars  ;D ;D

Will try it tomorrow and see
