Seems an odd size for a pole.
Why not 40?

If it was a 40ft pole it would be called the SLX40  

The exact length of this pole (no gooseneck or brush) is 11,705mm which is 38' 5" - allowing for a short plastic gooseneck and brush being used will give you an extra 160mm of extended length (6.4"), giving you a measurement of 11,865mm or just over 38'11". If it is used with the shortest QuicK-LoQ carbon fibre gooseneck and brush this would add 190mm of extended length (7.5"), giving you a total measurement of 11,895mm or 39'¼". Therefore calling it the SLX39 seems to be the most accurate description of its length.

For sake of comparison (not by way of criticism) an Ionics' Glyder 40ft pole is 11m long when extended (with brush head) which is 36ft.

As most of you will know we have always tried to name our poles according to their actual length including a gooseneck and brush rather than the reach of the pole which many manufacturers still do. This name has always been in 'feet' reflecting our primary market of the UK. For an exact measurement we have always listed the exact extended length (without gooseneck & brush) in metres. With the new range we have continued this practice and we have tried to improve our naming accuracy.

We have started completely afresh with this brand new range which has allowed us to optimize all of the lengths of the new SLX range to provide best closed length to extended length ratio -  This has been better facilitated by the new clamping system which closes down even more compactly making these clamps the most compact of any WFP available (despite having 15% increased clamping area).

Not at all Tim, the exact opposite. Gardiners specs are trying to emulate the Phoenix range so it the other way round for playing catch up.

A 25 something.

To improve the site, instead of just every facelift product being available on one page, there should be menus and sub-menus, ie, fibreglass poles, carbon poles, spares.

In some ways when I first ordered my facelift pole over the phone 5 years ago now, things were simpler

The wcw site  gives loads of info on poles site but are  you are buying a bare pole with no hose and no angle adapter  

Its really not clear at all and their is no pole specs . just an observation . Mike

Mr Fox why don`t you stop trying to score points with other suppliers its seams unprofessional and just putting the backs up of potential customer they, having bought other poles already. By your actions all you are implying is the buyers of these poles are fool to have spent the money on what to they decided was a good pole.
      Cheap point scoring is not what we expect of a company M D.Rather take this wasted energy and sort the top section of you own pole. In our minds it a section we have but should not use. Seams a bit of a waste to have it there.Don`t you think.I am tired  and I am sure many are of this nonsense going on.

Tbh that top section puts me off Phoenix a bit, also I've heard the bottom section is fibreglass, if I'm buying a carbon fibre pole then I want it to be pretty much all carbon fibre otherwise its just hybrid and I can get that cheaper elsewhere.

Smithie, not trying to score points I apologize if it comes across that way.

As for the UL top section - you don't have to buy a pole with the UL section in it, it's an option and a new idea. If you don't want it use a Phoenix 22 X instead. I gather you've not seen or used one yet to understand the concept? It has proved very popular and useful. I sure anyone who has one will provide more info which is unbiased.

DG, as mentioned above. The UL section is an option, when you get a chance to play with one you may get a better idea of how it works.

Base sections on pretty much every pole out there are not full carbon for conductivity reasons, the rest of the pole is full carbon. In a hybrid pole the rest of the pole would be hybrid sections, etc. Check with you preferred manufacturer on your carbon pole for more info.
