« on: April 05, 2013, 09:54:29 pm »
any one in the durham area noticed that the last snow fall had made windows and frames filthy, was it snow or wind and what ever was blown in the wind . I remember seeing fresh snow the other day on the ground looking filthy , which I aint noticed on the snow during the last 6 months, any comments ?

I agree, the frames have been more filthy than normal lately since we had a decent dollop of snow here in N. Wales.
As for the reasons why, I'm not too sure, maybe the flakes hold onto dirt better, or because the snow has lasted over a week it accumulates more dirt particles and so when it melts leaves more streaks & dirt behind??

there was someone on here who tested melted snow and the TDS was 290 I believe.
Rainwater is normally about 30 at most.

Its a well known fact that snow collects a lot of dirt on its way down.
