The second vessel can be any size but it'll make your change frequency a bit odd.
For those who don't know, method is to put two vessels in series, so water goes through vessel A then output from that into vessel B then output to IBC/van/whatever.
When you first buy the additional vessel, fill it and it goes in as vessel B.
The day the TDS out goes above zero, disconnect both. Move vessel B to be the new vessel A, empty the old vessel A and refill, then put it into position B.
The saving in resin is noticeable immediately.
Note that if you let TDS drift up you won't save a single penny by letting it increase; this setup means that you might as well change it at 001.
