Vin I am using DI only I have git an Ro which was trouble free for over 4yrs but switched to di only when moved house.

Cant justify chucking 300 litres of waste water down the drain and will be getting a water metre installed soon to reduce my water bill as will save about £15:00 a month and I can put my water usage  down as a business expense . Mike

i change my resin about every 5 months at the moment.DI ONLY.

i have a 25L DI.when the tds rises to say 010 i put a second smaller vessel in front of the old one and use until the first vessel tds reaches my tap tds.

double DI certainly gets the most out of the resin.

i use on average 2 and half 25kg bags a year so around £200 a year resin costs.

Thanks for that Dazmond that is a lot of resin but if i remember you fill your van tank pretty fast through your DI .

I fill my tank 300 ltr static tank in about 4-5 hrs i am hoping only to use 1 1/2 bags max or better still 1 bag . Mike

Thanks for that Vin do check the tds of water passing through both vessels or do check water produced through each vessel individually at different intervals . Mike

Hi
M&M see this http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=168349.0
I think you do need to check the output of BOTH vessels.  The TDS out can be higher than the TDS going in which surprised me!!!!!
If you're putting water at say 100 through the first vessel and the TDS climbs up to over 100 which it can do -  then the way I see it is - you are not using the resin efficiently - you are in fact making the water dirtier than it is!

Thanks Granny already seen i will check both twice a week as i have discovered lately the TDS can creep up pretty fast i can be producing pure water then in the space of a few days the tds will way over what i should be using .

I am not in the habit of checking often enough as only been DI only for about 5 months . Mike

I used to change resin every few weeks when the reading got to about 010, but since I started using a booster pump I haven't had to change it for about 6 months and it's still on only about 003. So i'd definitely recommend a booster if you want to save on resin.
how do you attach a booster pump mate , where and how and where are they available

Hope this sounds an ok question but if two di units can make the resin last longer   then is three or even four better for the life of bloody expensive resin , I already use a 11 litre one which I got from e bay for 20 odd kwid which is far better than the one I bought from WCW which was 90 kwid  , if using a few vessels was better then I would defo invest in another two , please reply lads , cheers Ted

Think you'll find the answer is -  you will reach the "Point of diminishing returns."
You will be putting more effort into buying, checking, re-filling and swapping 3 or more vessels around than you will spend on resin.

when you first use a DI vessel YOU JUST USE ONE VESSEL until the tds rises say to 010.then you put a fresh resin vessel IN FRONT OF THE FIRST ONE then when the first one rises to the level of your tap tds you throw it away and continue using the second one AS A SINGLE VESSEL until that rises to 010 then put a fresh one in front of it and so it goes on and on and on........!!! ;D ;D ;D

there is no benefit of using any more than 2 vessels at anyone time!!just use bigger vessels if you want it to last longer between changes!! ;)

hope this helps!!
