hi, im normally in the window cleaning section, but ive been asked to quote for strip and seal work, going to look tomorrow with someone who knows what to do and if we get it i will be doing it with him, but would have to buy some stuff in including possibly a scrubber drier,
could anyone let me know what i would need to start up and approx start up costs please, or where to get the equipment from,

update, unfortunatly we couldnt get in today so have to reschedule to fit clients needs, - Paul he probably can but i think its always good to get more than i persons viewpoint, and b bailey, not sure what size yet, still awaiting some details, thanks both of you for your comments,

Unless its something like a factory cat you will struggle to do a full strip back with a scrubber dryer.

Trust me I know I have done millions of m2 of it.

You still need a good heavy std speed rotary and a wet vac.

Fully agree with CSUK a scrubber dryer will give a poor result and remember the floor must be fully cleaned including edges and corners properly rinsed off to remove any residues. ensure you wear shoe covers when walking on to seal, use a good quality seal (not a polish) at least 2 coatings put on with a lambs wool applicator. Remember any marks left befor sealing will be sealed in forever which your client will not want. A heavy slow 200 RPM rotary machine is best suited a faster 400RPM will send the stripper sulution all up against the skirtings which can strip the paint and become your nighmare, I always use a skirting ring when using a rotary machine. Black or green floor pads for scrubbing and a decent wet pick up to remove the dirty water and sludge and give a final clean water rinse to ensure all is well.

On most jobs that require a full strip back they will probably need to paint the skirtings anyway.
Always try and get in before the decorator and always qualify touch up painting may be required.
I would always ask myself if it is really necessary to remove the old seal. Strip & Seal was very common years ago when the coatings used to discolour. Sometimes a scrub and recoat is all that required.

Ask youself: Is it discoloured, is their excessive build up, is it contaminated? If not a deep scrub with a black or SPP pad may be all thats required. A coat or 2 of seal followed by a burnish and maybe some polish to finish.

The above is way faster than a full strip back and often all that is required.
