I'm half Jock and half Sweedish - born in the Western Isles and bought up in London.

No wonder I'm always confused. Everytime I hear Abba or bagpipes, I get all emotional.

just wondering what race everyone is as just clocked gavs commenting saying ian giles ran off with a black woman and it made me think i dont know of any coloured window cleaners not round my necks of woods anyway

i know tosh is of japanese race

anyone else of different race just curious as its a very white dominated trade up here from what ive seen

I think  the term black would prove less pernicious.

i thought coloured was now the preferred term to use politically speaking maybe im wrong i didnt want to ask how black cleaners are there

its jut where im from there is a very small minority of people from other ethnic origins

And being half Jock really means you're quarter Geordie and quarter pig.  You've got to remember that Jocks came from a 1473 union when a drunken Geordie went over the border and mated with a pig.  That's a historical fact that is.

There is only one race, the human race.  They've cracked the human genome and it's known that the genetic variation is 0.01% between any two individuals on Earth, no matter where they come from.

Compare that with chimps, who even in different groups in the same jungle have a genetic variation of around 2%.

Why do you think that is, Tosh?

Well, those clever scientists think at one stage in our history, the whole population of the human race was reduced down to about 2000 people; something to do with climate change on the Savannah(?).

Because the numbers were so low, we're effectively all pretty much related to each other; hence chimps have a bigger genetic diversity than humans.

Ah, yeah, the genetic bottleneck, I remember now. Thanks bro!

Let's use words like "ethnic minority" and keep everything politically correct and tiptoe around asking how many black or Asian or "Non white British" window cleaners there are!!  

I love to see people struggle asking questions and trying not to upset someone who's a Citroen driving left footed green party voting Lesbian (in the Women's rights Group at their daughters primary school) sort of posts on here.

Of a dozen JW window cleaners I know locally.

Mostly white British.

One black British. (Real character, late 50's,  I asked him whether he preferred "black" or "coloured" and he said he couldn't care less - married to a white woman; he has a collection of Robertson's Gollywog figures on his fireplace!)

One white half American-half Norwegian by descent but British by birth - unusual accent.

wouldn't worry about it, I thought the same until it was pointed out to me(turns out I was 20 years out of date apparently), if no harm is intended it can't be offensive, well it can but that is another discussion
