Anyone use Linkedin?
« on: February 27, 2013, 08:55:34 pm »
I'm in the middle of a marketing course at the moment & all the trainers keep on about how important Linkedin is for indirectly gaining customers by getting referrals from local people outside your industry or from people outside your area but in the same industry - I'm being told to treat it a bit like an online BNI group.

So - if you're on Linkedin,.. connect with me!          ie.linkedin.com/pub/nathanael-jones/2a/216/412/

A mate of mine is a windie who has built up a huge amount of links. he is in the top 10% of Linkedin uses worldwide.
I asked him if he gets much work from it, his answer was...... Nah not really   ::)roll

In other words hes saying " yes i get loads of work but i dont want you to jump on the band waggon and start picking up work from big company execs with big posh houses and big factories " thats what hes really saying in the back of his mind !

Its supposed to be good for boosting your google ranking too if you put your website link in your profile & get loads of connections & endorsements - I'm sending invites to loads of ppl now & endorsing the ones I know,.. hope you'll all return the endorsements. :)

'You are in the top 10% users of LinkedIn' is a b******s marketing campaign by LinkedIn themselves. I got an email from them saying that I'm in the top 10% and I've used it once.  ???

I opened an account but they have some kind of creepy algorithm that knows who you have contacted and suggests a link. Also they are VERY spammy, so I never use it.

Not sure linkedin is a good marketing tool I am on and have silly number of connections, It is good for awareness but getting business not so sure. Marketing is a buzz word right now the danger is marketing for the sake of it.

The key is to target as much as possible otherwise you will spend your day chasing round various media and forum groups for little gain.

I've been on linkedin for years, but never really used it.

I like the new "Endorsements" thing they've got going on - it adds social credibility to the skills you claim to possess, which means nothing much in the real world, but in the ever profitable online world it actually can improve sales -- EVERYONE ENDORSE ME!!!  ;D ;D
