Static ro setup
« on: February 27, 2013, 03:01:12 pm »
I've been buying water for a couple of years but might be coming to an end. I'm thinking of making my own can anyone help with the best setup and best stuff to get? Any links to supplies would be great? Does anyone know roughly what the water bill will be using approx 400 a day? Thanks

You can get a new 1000 litre IBC, submersible pump, hose, auto cut off, trigger thing etc for about £250 delivered. Then you need your 4040/ro on top with perhaps a booster pump depending on your water pressure. The cost of the water is negligible really. It will cost you approx £3.40 per 1000 litres. That includes 405 waste and your sewerage charge.

I would not buy a second hand R O unless its very cheap as most time the membranes are dry and will have to be changed anyway.

Tom is right, but what we have done is cut down the wast water, by fitting ionics ro-back.( Adding it was a nightmare and had to get a ionic fitter out as we f****d it up)
Get a sub meter and apply for a none return to sewer and your quids in.
Our static is a bit crap now and needs replacing ro's are get on and water production is slowing and tds is rising.
We are looking at the  Aquafactors static but wast water is way to high.
Our favored is ionics with a roback 1000 ltr is around £2000.
You can do it yourself but add it all up and your not far short of 2k and you have the hassle of putting it altogether and making it work properly first time.
get your wast down and you produce water cheaper, with a ro-bac on average it 70% - 30% split but i do know some who have it down to 20% wast with good pressure.

I use a Clarke booster pump and can fill this tank in just over 4hrs!
I haven't changed the resin since  last summer either!
