If I'm not feeling motivated I try and just do it regardless not saying I always do but I feel better if I can manage it. If I'm not motivated when I'm on the glass and feel like going home I make myself do another 4 houses. I always feel great afterwards ;D

I struggle with motivation at times, I think unless you suffer with this then it's quite hard to get your head round
Maybe try writing out a list of rewards for yourself when you reach specific amounts
Thanks,

Never canvass in bad weather.
At this time of year wait until you get a dry saturday and head out.
When the weather is miserable and dark people dont worry about
clean windows.
Very hard to get motivated with all this bad weather.

i dread it for some reason like going the gym but once i have knocked that first door or had a good chat with someone i love it just getting that urge to go out

sometimes i find it better to take one of lads off cleaning and use it as motivation so that he has someone to go with so he can earn his days wage

I find it easier in short spurts, do it often and regular, aim for a 4pm finish and do 1-2 hours 2-3 times a week, works for me

If only I could do that. I don't know whether the missus would say the same but my guess is she'd be more than happy.  ;D

..............................................

Canvassing - every so often I do the houses around where I already have work. It helps to say I do the windows of number 20 down the road, etc.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

Set yourself achievable targets each time you go out, it could be targeting certain streets, estates or villages, it may be a length of time, one or two hours, or it may be a number of new customers, start low and dont sicken yourself.

This may sound harsh but its true:

Step 1, Stop making up excuses and go start it
(because you will always find excuses, look at it another way, because at the moment it is a chore you dont want to do it.)

think what it is that drives you ? what treat could you get yourself for 10 customers, how about 20, 50 or even 100.  write them down, then go to step 1 read again then do, repeat as often as needed till you go do step 1.
If your not willing to learn, No one can help you, If you are determined to learn, No one can stop you ;)

Its all about numbers, the more doors you knock the more work you will gain, and the more money you will make. Try multiplying the cost of the house by the number of times you will do it in a year and realise how much you have just gained from that new customer. keep at it, the next house could be the new customer.

Spot on.

A reward based system works well for people that aren't motivated.
You do however have to stop overthinking it.

To stop procrastinating you could try to make a paper schedule for the time you are going to canvass and the reward for the extra customers as above.

Engage your brain when planning, disengage when doing.
