Hello

I'm lloking at getting a new van for a new wfp system.

I particularly like the look of the Vauxhall Astra van, just want a 300 litre (or slightly bigger) system.

Has anyone used an astra van before?

If so what's it like?  Cheap to run, reliable etc?

Any advice much appreciated!

my mates got a astra van with a 400 litre flat tank system with 2 hose reels in it very presise fitting with hoselock reels its a very good system to use and is extremely economical

I got a 350 in mine runs fine but wouldn't want to go bigger

I had one for 10 years before I went to wfp. Very reliable van, other than servicing I luckily didn't have one single prob with it. When I first moved to wfp I fitted it out with a 350 tank, one reel, one pole, bucket and the bits and bobs. Tbh I found the lack of space a nightmare and the fact I'm about 6'2 tall getting the reel in and out was grim. Still will be sorely missed tough as I doubt I'll ever own a more reliable van.

i had a astra van when i changed from trad to wfp, kitted it out with a 250 flat and then a 210 flat tank,

excellant van but not good with wfp, go for something bigger, a vauxhall combo or fiat doblo would be much better

Peugeot expert 1.9 d nice and cheap and bullet proof I have two of them  good vans and you can get one for about a grand

i have the scudo 1.9d they are ok,biggest bonus is the extra seat

Scrimble, why not good for wfp? is it just the size?

Thanks for the info Fin Clearview.  It's good to know these vans are reliable its what I keep hearing.  I hear what you're saying about the space, I only have one hose reel and plan to get a 300 litre system put in it.  One of the reasons I had my heart set on this type of van was that I saw one once with a 300 litre system in and it looked just perfect.  I even took photos of it.







I remember being suprised how much space was available at the back of it, though I do forsee a problem fitting poles etc in.

Have to add, most people seem to think its better to get 600 litres if going for a new van.  Cn't imagine ever needing more than 300 litres though.
