good money with r/doctor
« on: February 05, 2013, 07:27:33 pm »

Ok, You may find this hard to believe , I can assure you this is genuine.

Last week a dry cleaning company contacted me asking me if I would be interested in doing any carpet and rug cleaning jobs they obtain, apperantly they offer a number of services besides the dry cleaning carpet/rug/upholstery c;eaning one of them.
I had a meeting to day with them not wanting to turn work away, a well established company with a good reputation.
Well the fisrt thing I saw was lots of r/d advertising they hire these out, as the meeting progressed i was inforned the owners son does the cleaning , yes with a r/d  how ever as they now so busy they want to pass it on ;D

Ok i thought what sort of job ticket will i get from this ?   I aked the question !!
well rugs start at £2. 00 a sq ft   , I,m happy at that. and carpet cleaning ? well we have a job booked in at the moment if your willing to take it on, with that he printed off the details and prices. below is exactly what was on ommiting names etc for obvious reasons.

                              net  vat            vat            gross
3 rugs as seen      £445.00       £89,00          £534.00

tv room                 £393 .75      £78.75          £472.50

Blue room             £ 472. 50     £94.50          £567.50

                             £1,311.25                         £1,573.50

The above is on the basis of assistance on site to move firniture around as needed.
The rooms should be left to air for at least 24 hours after completion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now i know the property is quite large , but that is some price that was going to be cleaned with a rug doctor.

No good that Geoff, give it a wide berth, it's a scam. If they need someone else pass them my details.

What are we all doing wrong!! They must have some incredible sales technique to avoid the question of "how do you clean the carpets" If it is for a manor and it is simply a housekeeper letting them in - and the owner has no idea, then this would explain it.

I'm gobsmacked tbh.

Lewis.

No misprint or typing error.

Must admit my reaction seeing the numbers I hope wasnt to obvious to them :o . I basicly went along as though was the norm.
The owner of the dry cleaners did say he would come along to help ," wether that was to justify the price or to check my credentials, I dont know !!

it could be possible they are getting complaints about the rd so their now passing the work onto a pro and take a skin off it. it just goes to show it's marketing that counts and this lot must be very good at it  :)
