Tax rebate email from Inland Revenue!
« on: January 09, 2013, 06:12:32 pm »
I had an email before Chrimbo saying that I had been awarded a tax rebate of £144! I'm suspicious of this because they've never emailed me before?
Anyone else had one?

No its a scam. Inland revenue would always send a letter. Put in trash or spam folder.

Sounds like a scam. However, you could ring HMRC and see what they have to say about it.

Send them your card details and let us know how long it takes to receive the funds :)

Had this one recently, asking for all sorts of info...PIN NUMBER! ACCOUNT BALANCE! CARD DETAILS etc etc all adds up to a MASSIVE SWERVE.

It's something I refuse to do, H.
But the missus set up a direct debit for me, to pay them every month.
Actually, I'm quite a bit in credit, the rebel that I am.

We've had the same email to our general enquiries and press office email addresses - not even addressed to a person. I've been told not to open it in case it contains a virus.
