Prochem Aqua Seal Fabric Protector
« on: December 22, 2012, 09:28:18 am »
Hello all.
Advice please..... I have a lady wanting a brand new three piece suite protected. This suite is made up of the following,
44% Cotton
41% Viscose
11% Polyester
4% Flax

I am concerned as this protector is advised to use on synthetic fibres and the above are mainly natural.
I had a swatch that I applied the protector to last night and at first the edges did curl up which worried me however upon drying they had get back to normal perhaps as it is loose fabric?
The swatch dried fine with no noticeable change and the protector has held well.

However as this is a brand new suite I am especially concerned as the lady is also a very intense character. The last thing I want is a major headache over Christmas should something go wrong with this.

All thoughts welcome.

Happy Christmas.

Rich :-)

AquaSeal is a water based protector so I see no reason why it would cause any issues

Don't use water based on 41% viscose not worth the risk IMO. Use solvent based dearer
but no risk. Check there is no latex backing and spray with a fine mist with a fine jet.
"So basically its a big vax!"

Thanks for the advice guys.
Backing is not latex.
I am only going to be protecting the suite not cleaning so it will only be the protector being applied as a fine mist.
Still not sure any more thoughts??????
I only have Aqua Seal and the lady wants it doing so she can use the suite before Christmas and has a new born baby.
What's the worse case scenario here?
Thanks,
Rich.

This is the one you want;

If you use water based the fabric could crumple and distort, it will be a write off, don't use water based on viscose.

Thanks guys.
That has confirmed it for me. My gut feeling was to leave it alone as if it does go wrong I don't think the women would ever let me hear the end of it.
The only headache I want this Christmas is from the alcohol :o
Merry Christmas all ;D

Viscose fabric care: Viscose can be washed by hand or machine-washed with delicate detergent on the delicate cycle at 30 to 40 degrees C. Viscose should not be rubbed, wrung, spun or dried in the drier, but hung up when soaking wet or rolled in a cloth to carefully squeeze out the water.
