Comments on blog
« on: December 17, 2012, 01:07:32 pm »
Just lately I'm getting the odd comment on my blog.
Not informative comments though.
Here's one on my blog where I mention accepting
credit and debit cards.

"Credit card is a vital thing at the present world. Every day we have to us it many times to do our financial transaction easily. Thanks for this allotment with a terrific issue!! Carry on.."

What do they write crap like this on it.
Is there an underlying reason for it.
The grammar is awful.

Oh and they are probably outsourcing the SEO to an Indian company, hence the grammer ect!

How does it help their website?
Another one today.

"Carpet Cleaners Battersea on 17 December 2012 11:53
Many carpet cleaners provide cheap carpet service in a very less price but every time they are not so much affective so before hiring a carpet cleaner you need to take a proper quotation and knowledge of carpet cleaners that is very necessary."

As your blog gets more authority you will be noticed by the spammers who use automated s/w.

You want to make sure you have the askimet plugin.

Even then you might get so much spam that you end up disabling commemts if you don't want to manually police it. Spam comments aren't going to help you in any way shape or form.

I can't see any comments on your website blog, have you deleted them. Where they have put " Carpet Cleaners Battersea " there is usually a link to their website, so they have a link to a carpet cleaning specific website and also a keyword/keyphrase in their link, this used to help with off line website optimization, but not sure if it is as important as it was, google keep messing about with things. You also have to be carefull not make it look like spam or they will just get deleted by the website owner/webmaster or do more harm than good on google, but there is a way of doing it to help with SEO, but like i said ,i'm not sure if it is as important as it was, i've not been keeping up with latest SEO techniques. I am not a massive expert in this area, but i did the same thing last year for one of my websites, i commented on blogs non-stop for about a month on any blog to do with " carpet cleaning ", carpets ", "cleaning ", "and any blogs in my area". I have to say it gave my website a massive boost in the rankings.

Yes, and when you commented, it was relevant, added something to the conversation, made sense and had good English. That did help you partly by getting some juice back (despite no follows). It doesn't help the site you posted on though from an SEO perspective. They do get engage, which is the whole idea of blog commenting which sadly is a point generally missed by most bloggers.

Give someone a free wall to write on and they'll take the invitation. Not sure if you can but some app that allows proof reading before posting would be good.

Go to the bottom of the page and click on older.
They're all on 2nd page.

It's a numbers game John.

If they are using something like Xrummer, they can send tens of thousands in a day. Many blog owners will not delete them and many will stick.

Use the Akismet plugin that Wynne suggests and set it up for zero links in the comments section.

There is a plugin for Wordpress called askimet that does a lot of the legwork. I get a lot of jobs where people have picked up on an interesting blog post, which may not have been about carpet cleaning directly. If your not getting comments either your keywords aren't hitting the mark or the posts are dull. You have to be consistent too in your posting and most people don't or won't do that.

That could be a lot to do with providing a local service though. It may be that your customers prefer a 'home cooked meal' kind of website because they want a trusted local guy, rather than feel they're just going to get any old joe blogs from ACME Carpet Cleaning Corporation sent round if they book through a super professional website.

Of course their are many website designers out there who do a great job, but i just find it frustrating that `wysiwyg ( "What You See Is What You Get" ) website builders get so much stick, there is a place for them and they are great when you are starting up with regards to budget. When i speak to webdesigners about a new project they always comment on vistaprint saying what a ripoff they are and you will never stay at the top of google with one of them sites, but the websites they create for me, never quite match the bravado and i let them know that  >:( . If you spend an hr or so searching google for cleaning keywords for different areas you will be amazed how many websites are at the top that are obviously home made and by any website design rules should not be there, but they are and have been for a while!

I have to agree. There is a world of difference between a "normal" web designer and one who understands selling. Most of the ones I meet have never written a salesletter or advert (that actually sold something) in their lives.

I'm guessing your VP one does the best.
Mine does me proud I must admit.
I like the fact that any errors with the site re grammar,
spelling etc are all under my control.
