To flush an RO membrane you would simply need to open fully the flush valve on the waste outlet of the RO.

I am just in the process of replacing my RO (when the courier decides to deliver it)

Up to now i have been using a 450 gpd system, it is hardly ever turned off due to the amount of water we use. My tap TDS is about 400.
My filters and membranes last at least 18 months- 2 years.
I never flush.

and diconnect from the resin chamber as the tds rises when first starting it off

you should have three pipes coming out the the membrane housing one where the water goes in from the prefilters, then the other end you should have two pipes one is connected to your di vessel, the other is your waste pipe (this pipe should have some sort of tap on it turn it to flush the system. if you take a photo we could help you more

Yeah i have the three pipes, water in to RO, water to DI and the water to waste, this does have a stop.

So i just turn this off?

Basically the water will be going to waste all will be going through the RO, unconnect DI and run all this to waste?

If you could take a photo of this 'stop' on the waste valve - I can then say what should be done to flush it.

basically yes, but a picture would help see what you have as having to guess your system, you may have a di bypass fitted

My 4040 is about 5 years old. Tap tds 130 and tank dts .004 Hardly ever flush during fill ups, will back flush with tank water every now and then. Dont use resin either.

To be honest my RO is about stuffed. My mains pressure is around 75psi and if I fill with only a small amount of waste the TDS is 015, but found out by having more waste water, thus dropping the pressure to 60psi, the TDS is fine.
