Hi All

I have a static system.

Is there a way of heating the water whilst pumping it from static tank into my van?

Some sort of heater like an L5 but electric not gas?

An electric shower perhaps?

Would it heat the water enough so that it stayed warm most of the day?

I would like to use hot water, but not sure I want to faff about with gas heaters in the van etc...

Andy it would take hours to fill it this way and cost you a small fortune

I have been thinking if some sort of waterproof element could be an option like a seriously over sized fish tank/pond heater

He got his from a local supplier tho and it cost a lot more

We (5 vans x 500ltr tanks) used to fill up with lovely hot water and it would last all day mate

Although ive got an immersion fitted in my van, I'm looking into getting one for my static - ill do a bit of calling and see what's best

stick this ( or more powerful one ) in your static tank - i use 500 watt in a 500 ltr tank and get 50 deg water overnight

Do you know whats the cost of running this per hour is Darran ?

If its 500w then it will use 1kw every 2 hrs.
If you pay 15p per kwh then it would cost roughly 15p for 2 hrs.

Do you have it fitted permanently or just drop it in the top and is it submersible?

At present i simply 'dangle' them through the lid as i have been experimenting on depth & circulation ( provided by aquarium powerheads ) and times etc...

they are fully moulded and water tight and as yet had no problems.

during the Christmas shutdown i intend to fix and leave inside the tank - this will only require a 10mm hole in the top
of the tank for the wire.

as posted each one at 500 watts will cost around 7.5p per hour depending on your tariff

i might try something like this , am i right in thinking that it would be like a rad in the back of the van ... at the mo im using a propane heater to heat the water when i'm working,  but im thinking about the heat keeping out the cold at night in jan/feb......... as a fan heater can be a little iffy

Do you use 1 or 2? - i use 2 as my set up is 2 500 ltr tanks, so 1 in each

What size tank to you have? - 2  x 500 ltrs

Yes it's like a big rad - nothing freezes ( well so far ) so has double benefits
