You sure it isn't raining there?

Nope, for a change.

Since October it has either been heavy rain, very windy or both or for the last few days, very cold.

Problem is in the SE generally and especially along the south coast is that most of the dry weather during the winter months comes from high air pressure which usually means cold temperatures.

Just having a beer before trekking off to get my ro from the van.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

cmon crystal clear!you have absolutely no excuse if your pipes are frozen!!surely a heater in the van should be top priority during cold winter nights!! ???

its -2 here as well but off out in a min.van nice and toasty ready for work.oil filled radiator been on all night.no windscreens to scrape, hose reels and DI brought inside overnight.

i always fill up after work in the evening ready for the next days work.

Me too its good practice, but i simply have to this time of year....frozen transferr hose! its a bit difficult to bring 30M of 1" hose in to keep it warm!!!!

Got the same problem i use the black hose from local aquatics shop which is used on pond pumps bit of pain to empty water so i leave water in hose it was -3 on thursday night and never froze .

I coil it up as best i can and put a tarp over it was wondering if 30m would fit inside a black plastic refuse bin they sell them in diy stores ,    If i put hose in that i could put it in garage out of the way shame you could not buy a cheap plastic hose reel to put it on . Mike

Funny you should mention that but thats the back up plan i came up with last winter.

On my transferr pump I have a 1/2 metre length of 1" hose with a GEKA fitting on then a GEKA fitting on the rest of the 1" hose. But I also have 30m of 1/2" hose on a hozelock reel with a GEKA fitting that I can keep indoors then attatch to sub pump when the big hose is frozen.

Thanks Cleancare how much longer does it take to transfer water at the moment i can transfer 300 ltrs in about 5-7 minutes with 1" hose .

Great idea was considering this myself but was not sure if it would be worthwhile and if it would take far to long my pump transfers at 75 ltrs a minute . Mike

You have hit the nail on the head there Mike....Thats the downside it does take quite a bit longer about 15 minutes for 300L I also have a 300L tank, but in reality its not that long to keep you working.
