Normally I canvass weekends! But I have never tried after daylight?
Anyone have experiences canvassing in the dark?

Every tue and thur 5-8 we canvas. It is miles better in the dark as you can see who is in. Also when curtains are drawn with the little light they let through its easy to spot the dirty houses.
Take my word for it and bang those doors after dark.

   I am, despite what Tosh thinks (using the word, 'think', loosely, of course).

Seriously, though, I don't think after dark is a good idea.  I know you have to find people in, but you also have to draw the line somewhere.  Personally, once I'm back in through the front door, I don't want it open again until 8 the next.

I believe that the 'usual' cut-off time for 'cold calling' as such is 9pm. I was out the other afternoon and it got dark about 4pm, and I felt a little uncomfortable knocking on doors after 5, even then. But whilst I am not suggesting that anybody calls up til 9,. Obviously the whole idea is to catch people in who are not in during the day, So is it wrong to knock say up until about 7.? I know there are people who knock later than this when they are collecting, although they will argue that they are expected by the occupier.

I have been canvassing years and its good old common sen e to knock between 5-8 as its when people are likely to be home. I have canvassed for the last 20 years and always 5-8 are the peek hours to get the maximum leads generated. Winter in the dark is miles better than summer in daylight as hou dont waste time knocking on houses where nobody is home.
