I always have done, I turn the flow off on the tops and do my best with the brush and use
 a cloth on bottom.

Annoying how much dirt gets stuck in the gap between the frame, and the sill . . . . .usually just use the jets to flush it all out.

I used to use the brush, but having read justins thread about scratches, I now use a cloth to avoid any comebacks

Exactly as you do.

However son in law does the bottoms with his brush, water off, as well.

Trouble is wiping with brush it gets dirt trapped in the bristles which are then spread over the windows, so you end up spending more time and water to rinse off the dirt you have applied to the glass.

Good point well made.

For first cleans though I try to use the long bristles on the brush to dislodge as much grime as possible from the gap between the cill & frame. Makes future cleans a bit easier.

Wash tops, then bottoms and same round the back then finish by wiping all the bottom cills only takes a couple of minutes extra and makes the job look loads better than leaving everything dripping, even wipe the top cills with a rag wrapped round  an applicator on the end of an extention pole, i might not be the quickest at wfp round my way but i,m one of the best

Don't wash the top sills but downstairs I carry a small blade in the pouch and blade off the excess water then wipe off with a sill microfibre. Don't wash the sills with the brush as it traps too much dirt and dust in the bristles.
