Cleaning Flats
« on: October 29, 2012, 04:28:03 pm »
Hi all,
Have just been granted the contract for a small block of flats and for those who already do, what do you do when people leave windows open and they're out?  Do you just not clean them or always make it on a set day of the month?

Thanks,
Simon

They're sash that's the problem and need to be pulled to close.

If they are sash then I don't clean, as water damage can be expensive to rectify

if they cant be cleaned i just invoice for the same amount i clean a block of apartments and have a similar problem i used to discount now i dont bother otherwise i am losing money and its not my fault .

You cant always plan your exact day and you would have to notify every flat each clean and most people would forget anyway . Mike

Notify them when you are coming a week ahead. If windows are then left open you shouldn't have a problem when leaving them. In my experience, it's always the same windows left open so they do get dirty. It's also sometimes tricky to do the windows above the open ones in case it drips dirty water inside.

Put a laminated notice saying when you are coming and please keep your windows closed. Stick it in the communal area and each time you go just change the date to the next clean. This way, if any windows are left open, you can justify leaving them.
