« on: October 29, 2012, 02:19:39 pm »
Does anyone know of any different types of resin filters? Preferably ones which lay flat?

Many thanks

Have you used it? Can it be used with 'loose' resin or do you need to use the cartridges?

This arrived today, first impressions, I like it. Its simple and seems sturdy enough. I'll know better once it has been 'Dave tested'.

Are you fitting it in the back of your van and if so how are you going to set up . Mike

Yes it will be 'van' mounted. Not sure on the set up yet. We have always used the DI bottles, which have always been an issue due to being upright.

I thought the best option would be to connect from outlet on pump into DI then to hose reel .

Although for me at the moment i am connecting to my hose reel with microbore hose so dont know if this would be suitable if using van mounted DI . Mike

That is how we will run it. Tank - pump - DI filter - hose - pole - window  ;D

Thanks mate will be buying one this week or early next hoping to complete on house sale next week and their is a covenant on house saying not be used for anything other than private dwelling .

So will just fill tank  and process on demand so as not to get caught out as moving into a barn conversion with adjoining properties cant get wrong for that as no different to  builder putting his tools of trade and some building materials in his van for work  . Mike

Gardiners have sold out of the old style re-fillable DI vessel and now they only have the one with the disposable insert which cost £26:40 with vat which will need to be replaced every 3-4 wks .

So my question is if i bought a 16.8 litre  di vessel processing water with a tds of 43 ppm how often would i have to change resin and are the standard blue coloured vessels easy to fill with resin any help is really welcome . Mike

OK guys what do i use if a di vessel has threaded fittings on top instead of hoze lock type fittings what do i need to buy looking at buying of ebay as they are far cheaper than window cleaning suppliers .

The threaded fittings are 3/4" bsp fittings i believe . Mike

I use washing machine pipes they screw straight onto pump with them plastic reducers which are pennies, then onto and out of di vessell, screw straight on then screw onto hose reel no leaking at all, oh i do put a bit of ptfe tape on all threads, these pipes dont kink either.

Soapy which one do you have,  The one listed is the EZ-Pure 21" Di housing with free 4 litre single use DI disposable insert . which would mean you would have to continue to buy inserts as mentioned above . Mike

All of the new style DI housing and inserts feature the EZ-Pure single use inserts. However for those that would like to be able to re-fill even with the single use inserts you can, if feeling handy, undo the tape on the top join (just below the white angled seal) slide a knife between the white case and the black cap and break the glue seal. This will then allow you to remove the black cap and empty out the spent resin. You can then refill and replace with resin and tape on the cap again with insulating tape. Doing this means you can have the lowest possible re-fill cost. For those that do not want the hassle of re-filling they can simply buy a new 'disposable' insert.

Hi Dave

Just a point to bear in mind. When filling (re-filling) the DI insert make sure that after placing the top black cap on that you tape the join between the cap and body with insulating tape - so that it looks the same as the bottom taped join.

Not exactly sure what fitting you mean.
But couldn't you just use a 3/4" Tap connector like this:

and connect your hose to that with a standard hozelock connector?
