Window Cleaning Survey Help
« on: October 28, 2012, 09:57:36 am »
Hi Will from From the Clow Group Ltd www.ladders-direct.com

Hi guys i am contacting you all today regarding some advice and to gauge the response of an up and coming window cleaning survey we want to launch.

We are in the process of creating a survey that is very useful and actionably for window cleaners asking key questions regarding rates of pay, safety and best products to used.

For participating in the survey we will be giving away some free products such as window cleaning ladders, and other window cleaning supplies. I am currently contacting suppliers to gain more sponsors (more freebies) I hope to have around £500 worth of kit.

It would be a great help to me if you could help me with the following

Can you please tell me what key questions you want us to ask your community ? ie Rates of pay, Hours working per day

thanks

will

I was stopped by a young student doing a survey yesterday, asked me what grooming products I use.

'Facebook and msn messenger' I told her.

What are you, a taxman?? Or trying to work out how to price up contract work so you can gain work?

Wouldn't give anyone out rates if earnings and the like to anyone other than my accountant.

If you want to work out what is earnt so you can price jobs up, get out and do it.

Cynical? Yes, and with good reason. Too many people try to glean too much info here, and too many gullible people give them it.

happy to take part in the survey, but can't think of any questions I need answered.

Why would i want to read a survey that has been 'sponsored' by companys to do with my trade ?

To me it would only apply to new people coming into the trade or try to get advertising for the 'sponsors'.

Why would a ladder company want to know about window cleaners earnings or the best tools to use that are not ladders or ladder related ?

Something fishy going on here .... has this been approved by admin by the way ?

Hi i will help you understand

we sell products to window cleaners

so rather than just send flyers to your businesses selling our products we will try do something useful for your trade

for example, complete a survey of questions you would like answered to 2000 window cleaners
such as

is facebook advertising any good
do you advertise in your local paper
has the recession effected your business

This info should help your business, for example facebook could be a great method of getting new clients whilst advertising in your local paper could be a waste of time.

If this info becomes very useful and helpfully to window cleaners it will help raise awareness about our business and products

see what i mean

+ the sponsors give free products in return of exposure again if the survey is really helpfully it will get high views and traffic again promoting the products.

We all know the answers through questions frequently asked on the forum and discussions thereafter.

If you wish to advertise on here, contact an administrator and I am sure they will discuss the various rate cards applicable so you can sell more to window cleaners.

What may work in one area may not work in another.

Examples -

window cleaner in London gets 4/5 jobs a week through FB - window cleaner in Manchester gets none.

window cleaner in Scotland gets a couple of jobs a week from a small advert in the local rag where as the guy in Birmingham doesnt.

My point is that just because a survey says something, doesnt mean its true and or will work for everyone.

I like using an slx where as my mate Garry likes his harris pole - doesnt mean were right or wrong, just that everyone is different.

I couldnt give a monkeys left nut about what window cleaners around the country earn or how long on average they work.

If you want to do something that is usefull for window cleaners, then how about a list of ALL suppliers out there and not just the sponsors. That would be good.

The only people who will benefit from this survey though is the sponsors.

Hi Blue

yea you might be right about your questions, but if we ask a large sample ie 2000 window cleaners we might see a pattern. ie facebook works whilst ads in papers less.

I like your idea about suppliers tho, we will look into this, maybe rate a supplier could work.

Also you missed out the person who wins £500 worth of kit.

thanks for your comments
