Working on your door step
« on: October 24, 2012, 06:53:38 pm »
Evening all,  :-*

It's some thing I don't do as rule, since I've moved
House, the new area I live in has a angry team of
Scallywag traders that I'm told treaten every one that
come on cleaning and are rude to customers and do a bad job.
So since I've arrived I've had people knocking on my door, stoping
Me in the street etc asking me to do there windows
And I've ALLWAYS said no due to van being on the path
And vulnerable. So I've kept well clear as I wouldn't put it past these lads.

But on adding up the work that I've been asked to do it just on a day and a half s month and scope for loads more.

Which eats me up a little as it really easy work.
I have thought about doing the 1st cleans myself then getting
A lad in (who's a big en) and sending him out with a trolley
And no uniform on to crack on. He won't get any bother and it
Won't ( shouldn't) bring any both to my door step.

Is it worth it?
I think maybe no but want to to ask what what you lot do
Do you work on your door step?
Ever any bother?

Cheers
Colin

I had threats made to slash my van tyres this was done by a note stuck on my windscreen saying carry on cleaning in this area and we goin to slash your tyres , i carried on and now moved back to the area where i was brought up , i still see the others who come around here but nothings ever happend and ive taken loads of there work .

Hi Colin, as you know i clean a few round by you and i've had no problems. (You beep me as i clean on Northway :-)  )  We've set on another van who lives near you (or in the area at any rate as i'm not sure what road you are actually in) He's had no problems cleaning in the area, infact most he has met have spoken to him and are quite laid back in asmuch as..."yeah, there's plenty for everyone". So i'm suprised to hear it is a bit bad there. Saying that he did get the back screen of the van popped about three weeks ago which we put down to kids?

my experience of working too close to home is waiting longer to be paid, or "not this month" attitude.
They see you as a neighbor not some one making a living.

Go for it Colin, where I live there are many wannaby gangsters, I take no notice and do what I want, if they want to smash my window, then that is up to them.

But I wouldn't be surprised if their van is burnt out or smashhed to pieces within 24 hours ;)

I have come across some of these arsehole cleaners who do a p poor job and bully their customers, normally they target the elderly or women on their own.

I have had 2 of these go back to the customer to throw eggs at the windows, but after I went around to their house and had a word, they don't do this anymore.

Also what would you do if these clowns moved to the areas you work, would you stop cleaning or carry on.

I have a round of 20 houses around my immediate area and I don't get no hassle from any cleaners in fact there is 1 who passes jobs on to me that are in his area .

I find the people who go round threatening other cleaners are the ones who do a poop job and are scared of losing customers to better cleaners .

Yes Colin it'll be the massive firm that mike is part of  ;D mike owns them all  ;D in all honestly mate if your worried about your van get a CCTV set up on it, I've got mine covered for that exact reason. That way anything happens then I have video evidence and off to the police I go and then I get the rest of their work as they won't be allowed to come around my area again. It's bully boy tactics mate, don't lower yourself to their standards and scrap it out in the street play it smart and legal
