Morning chaps,
For those that are on here this morning,just going out in next hour or so and looking to use Ecover liquid instead of the usual Unger liquid for cleaning windows (trad).
I know one or two have used this but i havent, so just checking if anyone who is around this morning has used it on the windows (and frames etc) and found it okay. I find the unger a bit sticky sometimes.....

Hi Steve, I have used Ecover since the hype started about it. For me, it doesn't live up to the hype but is still probably the best out there. It still leaves marks etc if you miss a bit and it can drag a little on corners if you don't put enough in your bucket (I put 30ml in a 2/3 to 3/4 full bucket. It does a good job and I don't find it too sticky as you mentioned about unger.

cheers fella, tried the ecover today on a connie clean, it worked really well on the upvc seemed to get through the dirt easily. I didnt use it on the windows though, put ecover in a seperate bucket as the water was proper dirty when i finished the upvc. used unger for the windows, it is good stuff, expensive but you dont need a lot of it.

any one else use ecover or is ir just expensive washing up liquid, it does work well though so i suppose thats all that matter, clients were well -pleased with the result.

As mentioned i used it today for upvc and seemed to work a treat, you dont need a lot in the bucket though as it foams up quite a lot, a couple of squirts at most. Would be interested to see how you get on if you use it on the windows, i will have a go on mine over the weekend to see how i get on with it.

Used ecover all day today, aye its ok seems too not as streaky as fairy, so think i will continue using it, one thing I did find that made a real difference was some small microfibre cloths I picked up for a pound in tesco six in the pack, they are the biz but do get wet quickly but they are great for detailing

I will give it a go, i used it today (in a separate bucket) to clean a connie down (all the upvc) worked great on that, will try on glass next week. I must admit though that the unger liquid is brilliant on the glass - it isnt cheap, but to be honest you dont need to use a lot of it. It says 1;100 mix,but i think you can get away with less than that, i used a weaker mix then that today (probs about half of what it says on the tin -so to speak) and it was still really good.
Will give the ecover a go anyway as it is cheaper, but will it work better??

Hi Chaps,
Ive used ecover( on my own house) it seems pretty good on the sills and if cleaning connies or upvc on first cleans etc. I used it in a separate bucket from my normal stuff i use on the glass, as on a first clean the water gets proper dirty, dont want to be putting all that dirt on the windows. It can leave a dull finish on the uPvc, but thats probably the hard water down here,as its full of minerals (chalky) if you give the upvc a quick buff up with a dry cloth when its virtualy dry it comes up great.

I think i will still use my unger stuff though for the glass, as it doesnt cost that much in the scheme of things and i feel that the finish is brilliant, it doesnt streak as much as washing up liquid (in my opinion anyway) - i only put half the amount of unger liquid in my bucket that it suggest on the bottle and it still works great.

To me at the moment - unger for glass and ecover for the upvc (ie connies and first cleans to help get all the crap off - use a separate bucket - clients seem to love the finish - hard work but worth it on the first clean as after that just got to keep on top of it every 4 weeks.

PS Not tried vinegar in it though as suggested - will leave that for my fish & chips
