Sorry not having a go, just saying.

Would love to know how you work (see you work) to give you some pointers.

Wow Joe, I know you said you were slow working, but...wow! 9 hours? I just told my Mrs, and her reply was 'Poor customers'.

I'd hate to have someone at my home for 9 hours (unless its an overnight deal - but that's another matter altogether wink wink).

Were they that much cleaner at the end than after say...2 hours?

After 2 hours i'd only done under 1 flight of stairs I think. They where ok. She was happy, I wasnt.

Does your Mrs approve of these overnight specials?

She wouldn't if she found out lol.

Seriously though, 9 hours is massively overkill - unless you're charging for that kind of service, which by the sounds of it you're not. I'd take Craig up on his offer, it might do wonders for your business.

Wow Joe,
On a serious note, that amount of time on that job, you are not making, and probably losing money.
Take up that offer, as my thinking is it will save you and your business.

Joe buy a minitex or something to do stairs as well will speed you up but at the time you are taking surely you would be better off getting a different job as your hourly rate is very low.

So far ive satisfied 10 groupons and made upwards 10 full priced sales out of the deal I think.

Baring in mind full priced for me is £50-£125 per days work (10-12 hours)

Im still tediously slow. The 2 flights of stairs today took me 9 hours labour. It was a white carpet and even after powerburst required lots of spotting. Also she talked a lot. A lot!

Joe you need some serious help, by your time rates it would take you a week to do a good sized 3 bed house  :o

You can not be earning any money taking a life time to clean what should take an hour, what on earth are you doing to take so long.

You said it, tedious, I would give up if it took me that long to do a flight of stairs, get some one in to help you and show you how to get it through it in a reasonable amount of time for the value of the job.

Its no wonder you are seeing stains every where you must have spots before your eyes,

where are you based I am sure someone could take you out an show you how its done.

I can do a 2-3 bedroom house in a day, including the stairs.

Yesterday was abnormally slow, although I am always slow on stairs in particular. I can count the flights of stairs ive cleaned on 2 hands, so maybe its just because its so unfamiliar.

My sebo duo does not agitate on stares needless to say and I am scared of under-agitation when doing it by hand, so maybe I go to far the other direction.

Also im having real trouble rinsing on stairs as they come out stripey (even when i try to overlap) For this reason I have been holding the hand tool at a distance and soaking the whole stair then vacuuming. Maybe this is causing problems, i dont know

£125 for a days work (12hrs)  :o
you seriously need to double that, or work twice as fast.
Thats £10/hr less your costs, vehicle, fuel tax mot, insurance, phone, advertising, etc etc
your probably earning under the minimum wage, and leaving yourself with nothing for repairs etc.

Dont know if you have done any training or beem out for a day with anyone , but either or both will help. Not a criticism just trying to help.

Thers a large gap on all 4 sides, where the rotating wheels cannot reach. When doing rooms I always agitate the sides of the room by hand, to overcome this.

Thanks Magic, im just googling it now.

me thinks you agitate too much ;D ;D ;D

Think you were brain washed on Cleantalk with East to west South to North etc by uncle Ken ;D ;D

I hope you mention about doing sides and skirting boards to your customers as it sets you apart from 3 rooms for £65 who only has time to do traffic lanes and not move furniture etc

Sod the minitex, get a floormac/orbiter, straight off the landing roll over the noses, lightly across the riser, then down to the next step - and repeat!

Then with extraction, start at the bottom step doing risers all the way up, once you get to the top, come back down doing the steps & noses.
