Hi All, Well its happened! water meter fitted yesterday. Just wondering if anyone claims the water cost for making their pure water, and if so do you have to have a meter to record how much you put into the ro to seperate it from household. or do you just guess it.
I make around 600-800 litres a week. thanks.

find out how much the water is per litre from your supply and double it,i say that because for every litre you use it takes at least two to make it

or

buy a water meter from ebay and fit before the ro system and that will give an accurate amount,which is something i must do

Make sure you fit a meter outside just after the outside tap, or just after the tap that you get your supply from. That way when you need to claim back the money in tax you know how much water you have used.

Using the "for every litre you use and then double" it is fine, if you don't want an accurate reading. Using that method wouldn't show you what water you used when flushing and also after a year of data you can apply to your water board for an abatement because your not sending water back to the sewer. Mine was £111 for the year.

You cannot get an abatement without a meter.

Also all the  water that you use for watering garden, cleaning the car etc can all be included in your abatement

yep i do just give the water bill to the accountant and they'll sort it

I haven't claimed for the past three years but have just changed accountants {this was one reason}. The new guy has said I can claim but need to have some "documentation" to prove the costs. So water bills from before wc and now, showing the change in use/cost.

I have a sub meter fitted all i do is subtract the sub meter reading from the main meter that gives me my business usage charged at none sewage rate. The house and the business are separate and you can claim for this.

This confuses me. I'm sure most of us do put our waste water down the drain, which in our case is the sewer. I tried to use some of the waste water on the garden, but the guy down the back had his rear garden flooded out and wasn't amused.
