Throw it in the washing machine on a wool wash! It works!

Hi,
We have a rug that is almost identical in our unit at the mo. We have cleaned it and used the following method.
Hoover the back with a hand tool x4 ways
Hoover the face fibre in the same way.
HWE the stains on the back (i presume yours has a few also)
Dry-foam the face fibre and agitate with a sponge
Dry
Turbo shake it very carefully and on the lowest setting
Hoover it again
A bit of work, but ours is looking pretty good and we have charged her more than £40 for it. The trouble was that no matter how hard we tried to get rid of the grit/dog hair etc at the base of the rug, it would not come out. This was only remedied after we removed the sticky/oily feel to the face fibre.
I guess you could just wash it?
Hope this helps,
Graeme

Hi Graeme
Many thanks for your detailed instruction, basically we notified the customer about this kind of rugs, that they are very difficult to clean and some of the stains are impossible to remove due to being 100% wool.
The base of the rug was sawed so we could not wash it in washing machine as one of the members suggested and plus we would not do such thing, because is not professional way to do.
The thing we did was vacuum thoroughly, pre spray with wool safe solution and finally cleaned via water extraction with our new wonder wand. Very good result plus the customer was happy.

when i did my training i remember the instructor telling me of a client who had a huge sheepskin which was several skins sewn together. he ended up using a pressure washer and finishing off by hand. apparently it came out amazing. not sure if i would have the bottle to do this though

what's unprofessional about using a washing machine...............
it will do the job better and a damn site easier than the suggested method, also, the suggested charge is equal to, or in excess of the retail value
some of you need to take a regular reality check

My next door neighbour washes hers in the washing machine every 6 weeks or so, then brushes it once dry, never any problems at all, comes up lovely

Hi,
I cleaned two recently, don't use any nasty detergents or washing powder.
Give a good vac.
I put mine in a bath of warm water and a "wool Safe" carpet cleaning product and manually agitated, then hung them outside and hosed them down thoroughly.
Drying times are 3-4 days, best left hung and occasionally turned. Then brush with a metal pronged comb to fluff back up.
Results are superb, one of mine had been under a dinning room table! So you can imagine how dirty it was!.
