Pure grade water in ya portable machine?
« on: July 21, 2012, 04:30:13 pm »
Hi
I started off doing window cleaning using water fed pole method, but just starting out in carpet cleaning, and was wondering if pure water from my system would be better for machine and carpets than normal water.

As i have all the filters and cos i use trolley system with windows I can make it up in 25l barrel getting a heater for my prochem machine so the water can go it cold and it be heated up.

Does anyone do this? or does it not matter ? i just thought 000 rated water would work better for cleaning .

If you put anything warmer than hand hot in your machine you risk knackering the pump, best of having the heat post pump rather than pre pump.As for ro water not a clue mate ?But you will prob need more than 25lts for anything more than a couple of rooms depending on how minging the carpets are

Yeah it's what I use, it's expensive and when it goes wrong there is not much you can do as it's a sealed unit,I am on my 3rd and been running over 8 years, have had leaks from thermostat housing, which was filling with water and tripping out, just undid the plate so water can drip out and not build up, but that has stopped leaking now, brass connector on bottom also prone to breaking up, had a mate make another connector for me.other heaters are available, can't comment on those as never tried them. You have same machine as me,although mine has an upgraded 160psi pump

Personal opinion:
Yes RO water is better for the machine as you won't get scale build up.
Yes it is better for the carpet because it will leave them softer.

Hi Dean

Yes you can use pure water for carpet cleaning, you will find that afgan rugs are washed in streans and if you check the tds of the water you will find that it is very low.

As for heating the water, I would instead fix a L5 heater into your van, you can then get instance hot water upto 60 degrees, which is perfect for cleaning carpets, you can always add a inline heater to your machince to acheive a higher temp if you want.

I've thought of trying pure water for carpet cleaning for quite some time, but never quite got round to it.
I must try it when I have a quiet spell and do a proper comparison.
