You could try by passing reset button obviously this removes a safety feature, then you will find out if everything still runs ok .

I have the perfect solution for you mate:

:)

If you're a domestic user, look somewhere like ncca.co.uk or tacca.co.uk and find a decent cleaner in your area

If you're a "professional" (in the loose sense of the word), shame on you and get some proper gear :)

Some good advice though.

So far we have "Bypass the reset button" thus risking death, skip it as they are crap, look for a professional cleaner and some advice on rewiring.

I would  take it to a local electrician and get the wiring looked at and get a safety certificate for it while you are at it.

Then put it in the skip.

Jim

Thought that was your van for a second there.  ;D
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Why not go to your local supermarket hire one of their machines, then swap them over, give them the duff one back, sure they won't notice  ;D

Please don't tell us you use it to supposedly professionally clean carpets.  :o
If so, press the reset button and buy some professional equipment.

probably the coil on the solenoid that controls the water valve they are the prime suspect, disconnect it and see if the button doesn't pop out.

Would cost you more to fix it than its worth.
Chuck it away and make some room in the shed.

Probably the only sensible post in this thread so far ;D

That skip is more mobile than my van at the moment, it has no transmission :-\

Bring it inside for a few days , could be damp. Disregard my first advise if you are still alive? Your local repair man could tell you what is wrong. Like all things you have to pay unless you have a mate.

What with the machine and now the van you must be pulling your hair out.

Cheers

No point stressing Doug, although I have lost a couple of jobs that were urgent and lost a couple of quotes because I couldn't get to them in time.

I should have all my paperwork bang up to date and a tidy desk but you know what, it's been nice weather here to go for long walks with the dogs instead :)
