what is it with window cleaners !!! Am I the only one thats not a drinker mmmm it seems that all the windys I know have a drink problem or like a good drink !!! Or like a bit of weed. I look at myself and think mmmmm how lucky I am that I dont drink or do drugs and have a business with a turn over of a 6 figure sum. i absolutley agree m8

turnover is absolutely knackers if running costs are too high.
i could start another business tomorrow making hardly/any moneys.

However window cleaning is completley different to most businesses as the overheads are "circumstantially" different.

OUR RETAIL shops margins are smaller than our window cleaning margins but "circumstantially" different.

I'm always a bit suspicious of those who say 'six figure turnover' as what does that mean exactly? It could be £100 000 or £999 999.

Why state 'six figure turnover'? It reeks to me of snobbery and one one-upmanship. Why not say I have a turnover of x amount and be done with it.

A few weeks back I was talking to another window cleaner who was doing the house opposite the one I was doing. He asked how much I charged for the house I was doing and I said £20 which I thought was a reasonable price. He said, as the house I was doing was the same style and build as the one he was doing, that I was too cheap and he was charging £30.

What he didn't know was his customer had dropped me last year as 'too expensive' as she'd found a window cleaner to do it for a tenner and I didn't say a word as there was no point.

There seems to be a lot of willy waving in the world of window cleaning and I've noticed that generally those who do earn very good money don't tend brag about it.
