Hi Gary, thanks to you mentioning these three suppliers i got to have a gander at the poles they have available. I havn't looked at them for a while. I couldn't seem to find any unger n lite poles for sale at all. I did find that
www.polarbrite.co.uk have anounced they will have them soon. They where the only ones with prices on that i could see. The Unger poles are priced quite a bit higher than other similar ranged poles available from gardiners or The Waterfed Pole Companys 'Elite ' range.
I'm curious as to how you got your hands on one when Unger have recently announced this.........
Unger are set to release the nLite range of water fed poles and components. No-one actually knows what Unger have up their sleeve until the launch date (8th May) in Amsterdam. But now they have given us the snap shots and info of it i'm not sure it lives up to the hype , and, yes admittedley i havn't even had one in my hands.
Is this the Game Changer?
Water Fed Poles have been around for a few years now. While we have seen sizeable changes in pole weight, clamps, etc There still a lot of room for improvement. We have yet to see a pole of all poles, a clear winner. That maybe about to change. I'm not so sure its abut to change with this Unger pole. It looks to me like they have almost copied the exact lateral clamp from gardiners, only they've made it more bulky. They also appear to have imitated the same clamp design and goosneck/fitting design that Gardiners use. Nothing wrong with that, to me, but i'm not sure that Unger claiming things are about to change on behalf of their new pole is an accurate description of who is leading the design.
Besides, i'm not a fan of these 'lateral clamps', i much prefer the more 'ergonomic' xtel pole clamps. Although Unger appear to be unphased by the use of a lateral clamp which appears more bulky than other lateral clamps, and definatley more bulky and less ergonomic than the other type clamps and proudly announce "yet the weight and ergonomics of the system still make it a pleasure to use". Maybe there's another aspect to 'ergonomic' that i'm missing. Anyway i'm uncertain as to what you expected from this pole when you say it exceeded your expectations, at first glance it appears
heavier, less ergonomic and more expensive than anything in its class?
I know what you mean about people on here being like sheep over Gardiners products though. I think others are at it too !!! Look at the
