Hi all,

Just chatting with a custy today who is off to his villa in the canaries... We were discussing the opportunity for a window cleaning opperation.... He did nt know of any???

Has anyone looked into this as an opportunity?

Probably would be call for it, just i dont think other than us Brits many countries/places have monthly window cleaning.
I bet holiday places would be on on a quarterly clean, need a lot more customers if so but still possible.

I would have thought there would be an opportunity for mostly one-off cleans similar to the US where you would clean the shutters and internal & external windows, offering jet washing of patio and pool areas would probably be a good add-on maybe even pool cleaning.

You could probably build a small scheduled round of ex-pats and commercial

i prefer my work in a smaller area(within 10 miles)travelling time to the canaries would eat into my day too much!!!

Thing is... how many customers in England would be happy to have a foriegn window cleaner?? Im sure the majority would prefere an Englishman/woman.

In my opinion... you stand NO chance. Keep dreaming.

Don't forget - most residentials have bars at the windows on the outside - and they open inwards for easy cleaning
Having said that, I did see an English bloke cleaning shops trad in Los Christianos recently when I was on me hols!

I reckon that anyone who may be considering setting up abroad would need to take a trip to their intended location, and spend some time 'canvassing' as if they were actually starting up, to gauge whether there is a demand for window cleaning.

I relocated to Ireland last year due to family circumstances. I left behind a very steady and well established window cleaning business and started again from scratch.

I am 9 months into building my business here, and have found the attitude towards window cleaning completely different here.

In Britain, most people were very pleased to see me every month. Here, although I do have some good regular customers, I have others who may only want their windows cleaned once a year!
