I don't doubt how many people use DIY poles. We do DIY stuff in the mag, but this category is for innovation, design etc etc of manufactured poles. Simples :)
fair play ;)

there were suppliers selling Harris decorators pole as well, they just added a brush and some hose and called it something else and stuck a bit of heatshrink on it.

the assassin is diy, the harris is diy

first implied snobbery against diy now a problem with northereners

be implying towards others

Complete waste of time. You should be measuring poles on certain qualities, they all have advantages in certain situations. Most guys on here are one man bands (forumers are 90% of your readers, if not all) they will be mainly using 20ft poles most of the time. Hardly a balanced view of every pole available on the market.

For example - how about measuring on things like build quality, your video of the aquadapter has a pole which will probably come out on top, yet it's held together with green insulation tape???

Snobbery against DIY? Not sure I follow, we cover DIY in WCM. I see you have your contact details hidden. I wonder why?

If all the pole you use is a 45ft, then you wont be voting as it is for residential. Im not too sure how many different ways I can explain this particular awrad. If your are not using a manufacturered resi pole then this would prob not interest you.
We are thinking of other awards for the future. This one is to kick off :)

A lot of town houses round by us, blocks of flats, etc. surely they are 'residential'? Why not inc 45ft poles?
I think there should be more clarity on your part. Really you should be asking 'what is the best pole for 20ft first story work'? If that is what you are getting at.

My point is how can you compare a fully carbon pole to a glass pole unless you mark them on other cateogries (price, quality, ridgedness, etc)?? It doesnt work. There needs to be an 'overall' inc DIY if you get fantastic value, surely????
