Just wait until you drop that tablet, or get it wet!! not worth the hundreds spent on it imo. I am a follower of the iphone though and would reccomend that wherever possible - not so much to use as windy s/ware but just as a general advancement to your every day life :)

I went iphone a few years ago, and i seriously dont think i would be able to live without it now  ;D

If you want something that can support your software then ask the developers what they have apps for - you may find that android apps are a little more common for this kind of thing.

So really my advice is

if you want a phone that is pretty much an organiser, go iphone.

if you want a tablet, its probably not best to risk it being out on the road all day  ;D but who knows - you may be the careful type

if you want something to run your w/c software, pick which program you want (if you havent already) and ask for the programmers' reccomentdation or mobile output device.

Hope this helps a little!

Our software will work with the Samsung tablet, and we have got a joblist view for the iphone (and other smart phones) - we are also working on a native phone app at the moment so you can do more from your phone and it will work even when you haven't got a signal.

However, I've not tried using a tablet out in the field myself - personally I can imagine I would fall into the trap that David mentions and end up dropping it, or treading on it or something!

I guess the advantage to the iphone is that you can just pop it in your pocket, but the Galaxy tab is much more powerful, and you can even use it as a phone - we have got someone in our office who does just that.  He does end up looking a bit like Dom Jolly tho!  ;D

Currently, you would put all your job information into the system whilst sat at a computer (or from a tablet).  Included within those details would be things such as name, address, contact details, job details including price.  We can set up a wide range of custom fields within the system, as we recognise that different businesses can work in slightly different ways.

Once all this information has been entered and your jobsheets have been automatically created as a result, you can then view all this information from your phone, but at the moment you can only view it.  However, if you have got a mobile number for your customer, you can click on the "send a text" link and it will take you straight through to sending a text to your customer, so you can let them know you are on your way!  8)

We are working on a native app that will allow you to edit information on your phone - I can let you know when this is complete, if you are interested?

You can email me your contact details on antony@liquidbronze.com

Thanks,

PS - (I tried to send this as a private message, but unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be a private message function within this forum?)  ???
