Bitten by a dog.
« on: March 30, 2012, 03:57:52 pm »
Out leafleting in the sun this afternoon with headphones on and as I delivered a leaflet through a letterbox, I was bitten. Quite nasty scrape, lots of blood and went to get a tetanus. Gave the owner a mouthful and to be honest he was clearly quite shocked himself. But the dog is three years old a a snappy little b*****d. The owner swore it had never happened before but I was sure by his body language that he was lying.

I told him that if I didn't hate the police so much I would be tempted to call them (though not sure what they would have done). I got it dressed and a tetanus at the minor injuries unit, but more peed off at losing over an hour of leafleting.

sorry to hear that Steve, not that it's any use to you now but push your leaflets through the door with a pencil.

The irony is that I ordered 10,000 this morning of the same weight.

Never ever push your fingers through the letterbox.
Don't blame the dog, it was doing it's job :)

I was bitten by a dog last year when I posted a flyer through the letterbox, It happens, If you don't want to get bitten, don't go sticking your fingers through their letterbox!! If you came to my house telling me you'd been bitten, I'd probably laugh and tell you to man up!!

I wouldn't do it as i like dogs but  ;) ;)

It always makes me wonder if your dog is nippy why shouldn't you have a external post box as it could have been a young child  :-\ :-\

if that happened to me i would be straight round to the police and demand that it be destroyed by a marksman

dangerous dogs are unacceptable and the owner has broken the law allowing that dog to bite you

I'm going to be running a Dog Awareness course soon If anyone is interested. Save your fingers from nasty skin removal, A+E can't cope!! Also, victims of Dog crime can see one of our experienced councillors!

I don't mean to be funny mate, but seriously?! I got bitten and my finger ped with blood, removed the skin from my knuckle to my nail (Got a nice scar for my efforts) It was hardly a wound for A+E, I've done worse shaving! If a dog is out and about and aggressive or threatening towards you then fair enough, but behind a door, Its want dogs do, defend their territory!!

It wasn't a&e. It is a MINOR injuries unit. There's a clue for you in the name of it. It's where you go for MINOR injuries.

Shouldn't have been trying to take the house keys out of the door  :D

Can't go blaming anyone but yourself, shouldn't be poking through letterboxes.

Hope ur finger heals ok though!  :-[
