Better putting petrol in a diesel than the other way round!!

No anti-waxing agents in diesel back then and it would set if it was cold enough. Worked well. Petrol in an old diesel isn't a major problem. No sensors, cat or computers. Kill a new one though.Thats what i heard - as petrol has more explosive tendencies. Dont quote me on this one but i often hear about people putting a litre of petrol in a tank of diesel to keep it thin and give it a little extra kick...

They put petrol in diesel in Scandinavia to help stop diesel freezing, at the right proportions of course, but not good the other way round. I put about 5 litres of petrol in my diesel van about 3 months ago, It was pretty empty at the time, just filled it up to the top with diesel, so was running at about 8% petrol to 92% diesel, no problems at all.
