Is anyone going on the free 2 day grinding course at Tiling Logistics in May, if so where are you staying?

My son Antony is running a two day introduction course on grinding in May.  I believe he has invited those who have expressed an interest in taking floor restoration to the next level.  Before anyone attends this course they need to consider whether they want to develop their business to this level!

Whilst the course is free in line with the wishes of Klindex Italy I want to make it absolutely clear that moving into Full Blown Floor restoration is very expensive and requires a serious investment in line with the cost of a professional truckmount as a minimum.

For those that have done one of our Hard Floor courses it is important to understand that we only covered the basics.

Ultimately to make sure there is no ambiguety this course is to give you a few basics on the equipment that may be required and how to use it.  It is sponsored by Klindex Italy and therefore free of charge.  However, you will be required to pay for overnight accommodation and lunch on both days unless you decide to make your own arrangements.

Regards

I thought I would try and give you an insight into some costs for grinding equipment as follows

OK I have worked out a list of what is required to start dealing with grinding & honing.
All prices are approximate based on exchange rate on 2/4/12 and do not include discount or VAT. I have further assumed that you have a van to carry the equipment and I have also assumed that you do not currently own any of the items below.  Finally all equipment listed below is professional equipment.  Weuse all this equipment on a daily basis.  I realise like many other professions there will be people on here who will say "I didn't pay that much" or my "so and so only cost that".

Klindex Levighetor 640 TOP including 1000RPM Planetario, Tank, Driveboard, Brush, Directional and Transport Wheels. £4500
Klindex Rocky 17" Top CPL including Tank, Driveboard & Brush £860
Wet Vacuum Industrial 3300watts Triple Motor 90Litre Tank including all wands & tools £345
Diamonds full set for Marble:  Metal Sintered and all resin stages so 3 of each Metal total 9.
6 of each resin up to 6's and 3 of each up to 8's total of 30 Diamonds £2400

Ditto same quantity of diamonds for Travertine & Limestone £1900

Professional 30 Litre Kentucky Mop Bucket, Spare Heads, Continental Swiffer, Spare Heads, £145

Glossmeter £200

Ancilliaries including Pads, Masking Materiels, Paper Rolls, Pro Polish Selection, 5 Coloured Resins, 8 Colour Tints, Spatulas, Application Pads, Wide Razor and Blades, Full Test Kit & Starter Sealer Pack, Wax Sticks, Wax Iron, Spare Capacitors, Vernier Electronic Calipers etc etc £1100

Total £11430

This is a rough idea and the list is by no means exhaustive. However, with the items listed above you would own the equipment to be able to go out and handle virtually any grinding, honing and restoration work on Marble, Travertine, Limestone or Terrazzo.

Glossmeter £200

3 angle?

Jamie

Yes that is the price for a 3 angle Gloss Meter but from China of course.  However, it is totally suitable for someone starting out.  I know what a Konica Minolta or a BYK costs because we have them but I don't think this level is required for the first couple of years.
