with the price of fuel getting silly now,im going to spend at least 1 hour tomoro clearing everything i dont use much out of my van

iv at least 6 too many scrubber sleeves in there, 4 too many squeegees, box of shoe covers i never will use, old  cd"s , 2 Peter Kay books, World Atlas, naff poles, yard brush, spare 1/2 bucket of water and get out that bucket as well  , radar detector, winter coats, beanie hats x4 , 10 pens too many, 4 notepads too many, bottle of aftershave,  crap seatcovers, every milligramme counts,  im thinking it will all add up to removing the weight of 1 person from the van. save a small fortune on fuel over time

yes thats the stall .  they are striped cotton rags, look good but  they didnt work as a sill cloth  for me

i reckon i might save a tenner a week  on fuel by having a proper van clearout. that surely knocks 5 p a litre off the fuel price at the pumps

Cuddly toy?
There's some seriously heavy stuff in there; you'll save a few bob, there.
But keep the radar detector; you never know.

Ps. what aftershave is it?

Ditch the spare wheel, jack and wheel brace and get a can of tyre inflator. That's what the manufacturers seem to do.

What they don't tell you is that the tyre becomes unrepairable once you've used your can of tyre inflator. Its a new tyre every time. This is false economy IMHO if you did have an easy repair puncture.

Spruce - they dont want to repair tyres these days anyway ? the last tyre i had with a nail in the tread was
unrepairable as i had 'driven on it' ( for all of 500 yards when the steering started pulling )

bobby i think you will save even more if you open the bonnet and remove that big chunk of metal ( and might make a few quid down the scrappy ) then either cut holes in the floor pan ( saving more weight ) or start each day at the top of a hill...

all very eco friendly - low tax and you'll be
quids in....

if you bought a van and a wfp system you could get rid of your part timers and have enough money coming in to not worry about saving the odd quid here and there on fuel...........oh and you d be able to save up and go to mongolia some day!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!

You are absolutely right but what you have to do is try and remember when you last had a puncture and work out statistically whether or not the extra fuel burned by carrying a jack, wheelbrace and spare wheel amount to more or less. With petrol at £6.60 per gallon here and diesel at £6.82 it just comes down to economics - many manufacturers now don't provide a spare wheel & associated kit simply because if the cars co2 emissions are borderline the weight reduction can drop the car into a lower VED class and may save you £70+ per year. Of course none of this helps you if you have shredded tyre on the M5 at 3am!
